It's March
stalks push through dirt
winter is over- snow gone
tendrils grow tall- first spring flower
tulips
April
college kids home
lots of people- loud noise
hanging out late, just having fun
spring break
May makes
the flowers bloom
daisies, violets, blue-bells
flowering dogwoods in full bloom
pretty
June brings
kids home from school
pool-parties, barbecue's
long days spent tanning at the beach
relax

Not letting race come between
accepting other peoples views
Befriending someone sight unseen
exercising your right to choose
Listening to the other side
forgiving others when its due
Letting go of stubborn pride
in hopes of starting things anew
Protesting for peoples rights
when they are different from you
Standing in the line all night
just hoping to pass through
Opening up your eyes to see
that our differences are far too few
We all bleed red both you and me
regardless of skin color or tattoo

About this poem:
I am as open-minded as they come. I believe everyone is equal regardless as to your color, creed, origin, style - we all bleed red.

Crystal raindrops form dew on the grassy area nearby
Dancing above the ground the lightning bugs fly
Everything is peaceful with stars filling the night sky
Feel the breeze blowing softly from the angels as they sigh
Granting us a lovely night that no one can deny
He is watching over us, his beauty is in good supply
Can’t you feel the power, as you gaze upon His face
Destiny is calling back the things that have been misplaced
Even reaching out to the lost who have wandered way off base
Fixing what was broken, gently giving back His grace
Guiding home the chosen, letting his steps be retraced
He is watching over us, gathering together the human race
Can you help him; help yourself, by trying just a bit more
Developing good habits, picking yourself up from the floor
Embrace his guidance, stop being a prisoner of this war
Fly lower under the radar, quit trying to slip out the back door
Gather your strength all around you, so you may be restored
He is watching over us, how often though do we choose to ignore
Cocaine and meth, marijuana, LSD and heroin make you fly
Death on a drug, or in a daze, matters not to those who die
Evidence shows, those left behind often don't want to say goodbye
Fighting our feelings, we don't know whether to laugh or to cry
Grieving we do, but how do we stop the problem that underlies
He is watching over us, maybe this time.. in HIM I shall rely

The armor I have been wearing has been pierced
a tidal wave of joy rode in an settled near my heart
I am torn by the feelings of compassion and empathy
and wish I could go back to having a cold blackheart
A window was opened, all these new feelings rushed in
Instead of pushing them out, I swiftly shut the door
I am still scared to death of how they make me feel
Afraid I'll find my heart in pieces naked on the floor
But I felt that sunshine as it poured into my soul
I giggled and cried, then sat in stunned disbelief
I felt a kind of happiness, joy I hadn't felt in years
Finally breaking through the darkness, I felt such relief
The light turned on, the void holding me had gone
Now everything I see holds a new kind of spark
the colors seem brighter, more vibrant, more alive
I guess my heart had been hibernating in the dark
Now the real work for my life and sobriety begins
I see now all the problems and what was truly wrong
It's time to fix all the things that had been broken
So when I am done.. I will be that much more strong

Love is a word to describe how I feel
Love is like nectar to nourish and heal
A heart once cold, now shines like the sun
Love is a word one will never outrun
When you look at someone with love in your heart
Your eyes are opened and you see the art
Art of a master, creator, and friend
You know that true love is never pretend
Love look past wrongs done each day
Love keeps you alert with little delay
When you are in love, you forgive and forget
You listen to their side, even when you are upset
Love is the greatest gift God gave
Love doesn't mean you never have to slave
Love doesn't hold anger, deceit or rage
Love finds the truth on every page
Love is never alone even when you get old
Love is a memory, keeps from the cold
Love is a poem, where every line rhymes
Love is an era, that never runs out of time
Love is a penny, shiny and new
Love is a color, in any bright hue
Love is a staple, that keeps us alive
Love is the reason so many survive
Love a flavor you can't live without
Love is a noise, you sometimes must shout
Love is a flower, fragrant and wild
Love is a precious beautiful child
Love is the answer to many a prayer
Love is the hope that you'll always be there
Love is a feeling, a kiss and touch
Love is an emotion, I crave very much

I tilled the soil in ground so bare
Then planted seeds in a garden square
A place of wonder, a mountain to hold
Both pansies and posies in colors so bold
With rake in hand I spread with care
With roses galore, with beauty to share
A life so wonderful, these friends I behold
Then I give them love, cause friendship is gold
Deep here in thought, songs play in the air
then the butterflies linger alone or in pairs
Sometimes it grows way out of control
But as each year passes more beauty unfolds
I watch them wake up and take time to prepare
I watch them grow tall with Spring in the air
A garden forgotten as weeds take hold
It unleashes it’s fury, and tales are told
Knee deep in soil, I planted these seeds
I watered my garden and pulled out it’s weeds
With fragrance aplenty and flowers to view
I planted this garden, just for you.

About this poem:
I wrote this for my mother because she is in wheelchair and loves the garden, so every year I go out and plant her a small garden in the patio outside our front door, so she can sit in her chair and enjoy the perfume from the flowers.
