Hand In Hand

I want walk with your hand in mine
I want to talk to you through candles
I want to catch your smile in a crowded room
I want to sing the songs with you
I want to kick the leaves
I want to sit on the grass
Walk barefoot on the sand
Toes in the water
Hand in hand

I want to feel the rain on our faces
I want to feel the wind in our hair
I want to feel the race in our hearts
The tips of your fingers
The warmth of our bodies
The heat of our love
The salt of your soul
Hand in hand

Hold Your Hand

Hold Your Hand

I can hold your hand when you feel
Things get too much
When you feel you are scared
When you feel you don’t know.

When you think you are
Not ready
I can wait
Wait till you decide
How ever long that may be

I can help you laugh
I can help you learn
About me
About you

When you want to shout
To scream
To whisper
I can listen

I can hold you when you
Want everybody else to go away
I can love your body and soul
When you want to share your deepest wish

I can hold your hand when you feel
You want to walk
When you want to share
Special places, special words
Special memories

I want to hold your hand
Tight in mine
And not let go.

Forever Guilty

I can’t believe I keep doing it
What is it that makes me?
Am I driven to hurt
Just because I have been hurt
Had my heart broken
Life destroyed

I keep pushing those away
Who want to be with me.
What am I trying to find?
What can fill that hole?

God only knows
Because I can’t figure it out anymore
I had it in my hand
But I couldn’t stop
It slipping through my fingers.

Now I am lost
Without her,
Her warmth, her passion, her love.

Forever guilty, forever trapped.

About this poem:
I wrote this when my last relationship broke up. I was heartbroken as I felt it was all my fault. Time has healed and I have learned to realise there very strong reasons for my decision and I am happier for it. It has made me stronger

Slow Burn

I long for the slow burn
Of thinking and wanting to learn
Wanting to hold
Wanting to kiss gently

I cannot do this way again
I cannot give my body & soul
With lies and falseness

I want no more rushes
As they are destroying me.
I want the slow burn
To kiss goodnight on a doorstep.
Lust not fulfilling anymore
It only angers me
And causes me to lash out

About this poem:
I came out of a relationship last Autumn but subsequently have had a "fling". I don't want that again. I want a relationship that will last. I want that slow burn.

Time Standing Still

I find that when we are apart,
Time doesn’t move fast enough
But when we are together
I want it to stop.

I want time to stand still
And let the world go on
Without us,
Let us be
So we can be

I find that when we are apart
I feel the hurt, the pain,
The missing light
That only shines when
We are together.

You are in my thoughts
Hourly, daily, weekly
I know I want to be with you
Wherever that may be.

I miss your kisses
Your smiles
Your laughs
Your touches
Your warmth
Your love

I want to lay beside you
I want to wake beside you
I want to walk beside you
I want to be beside you
And never go away.

Baby steps

Are these the tentative baby steps
Of a chance
For knowing, growing, feeling, holding
To listen and learn
That life holds a promise
Of a new beginning.

The reaching out is edgy
Nervous in sharing
Scraps of who we are
And what we want to be

Going backwards
To a moment when
We will meet
To see is the reality
Not a blind dream

Words written
Words spoken
Emotions, passion, desires
Wants and wishes
For a simple human touch

Wanting to feel a hand
A touch, a kiss
Wanting to see a smile
In a room filled with strangers
Wanting to see face wakening
From a slumber born of an afterglow.

First Morning

I look in your eyes
And see a gentleness, a weakness,
A girl,
Who is not the woman of the moments before

We lay entangled
Sharing the warmth,
The heat of a confidence born
Of lazy comfort

We have taken our nervous discovery
To somewhere new
We bring a longing, a wanting
For that jumpstart in the heart

We are strangely comfortable
An acceptance of unsurety
Formed into a sense of delight,
Of beginning,
Of learning to share
First mornings.

Watching Blindfolded

I am watching blindfolded from a distance
I know you are hurting
I want to reach out and take your hand
And let you know
That the pain will never fully go away
It can only be soothed by time
By friends who care
By families who are there
By those who love.

They say nobody can hear
The cries of a broken heart
Especially when it is screaming
Begging for somebody, anybody
To wrap it in a blanket
And hold it while it shakes

I know how that pain can feel
I have wanted to scream
And ask why me
What did I do wrong
To feel the dull ache
Of a broken heart

God, I want you to share
But I know it is too much to ask
And I want to take that hand
But it is not fair to reach out
And I want to dry those tears
But I dare not touch
