courage

When surrounded by the inky black, those with strength will find the courage
When set adrift in a stormy sea, those with strength will find the courage
When the pillars of life come tumbling down, those with strength will find the courage
When facing an army and your but one, those with strength will find the courage
Those with courage watch the insurmountable dissipate
Those with courage will slay the unbeatable foe

travelled far ?

Travelled far ?

At times I think that my life has made a turn
Only to watch it crash and burn
Promises made, never followed through
People’s values differ, I know it’s true
Society expectations is at an all time low
Shallow are we that emphasise the show
Do I look good in this, do I drive the rite car
Is this the place to be seen, have we travelled that far?
Dept is the beast that we now feed
Life now is driven by simple greed
I sit and watch the world rotate
Theft, murder, fear and hate
What has happened to human race?
In the streets of the privileged there off there face
Down at the corner some one is dead
Blood all around, bullet through his head
So life has no value it seems so bazaar
We must push on, have we travelled that far?

Sunset

Sunset

Red on the difference of light and dark
That soothes the soul and creates the spark
Keeps us honest keeps us true
Keeps the window clean that we look through
To stop us from stepping over the mark
Suppress the villain in the dark
Feelings that I gather from the setting sun
That magical time when the day is done
The quiet time with your favourite view
Candles, wine, a dinner for two
The dog on a beach chasing a ball
Seagulls sitting on a wind swept wall
These are the things that we should cherish
Not the stuff that fade and perish
Just for once look for the setting sun
And you too will find that life is fun

Not quite sure

Not quite sure

Two beers needed to loosen the tongue
Relax a bit to have some fun
Rid the inhabitation that holds you back
Gain the confidence that most do lack
Is it shame or shyness that hides the soul?
Never mind the paranoid thoughts that create the hole
It’s not so easy to ask someone out
Only to find that they have some doubt
Rejection once or twice most will get
No wonder people now meet on the internet
Let the bullshit flow quick as we type
And keep up the image with a picture not right
What chance have you got if you tell the truth?
You got more chance of being laid in a telephone booth
Image is the new fuel that feeds the beast
That keeps all the needy at the feast
What car does he drive? Where does he live?
What sort of work, has she got a quid?
Now life is so shallow, morals are done
There is no tomorrow, as long as there’s fun
So lift the amber fluid up onto your lips
And wipe away all doubts with your very next sip
Societies expectations is not really that hard
Show what is needed, to keep up the facade
Create the image and join the pack
Sell your soul with your morals and don’t look back
So this is happiness of what we seek
Day to day, week by week
I am not quite sure if this is the plan
That was laid down for our fellow man

Back is the love

Back is the love

The kids are back, two weeks alone in purgatory
Left has the empty darkness that enveloped me
The house is now a home; all of a sudden it’s warm
Left have the ice cold feelings that had me torn
Now I settle into a familiar routine, like a comfortable chair
No need to neither break the silence nor pull out my hair
Have done the time, were I had to greve
Still it’s not easy, to watch them leave
Many must endure this hard part of life
Result from a previous time of strife
Clouds have all gone, above the sky is blue
Back is the love, endless, boundless, and true

Two sides of the coin

Two sides of the coin

Must look forward not look back?
But from the past I can learn
Run so fast to lead the pack
Take my time wait my turn
Be ruthless and stash the money that I can stack
Take the time to smell the rose and see the fern
Grab the toys that others lack
To seek the love that I yearn
Any in front I will attack
When I die I won’t burn

Far too hot

Far too hot

It’s late at night but its far too hot
To sleep I try, fan can’t stop
This is not a midnight summer dream
Of waters where a moon light seen
Of cicada’s song and crickets chirp
Of lovers seats in parks to flirt
Of Cars parked in secluded spots
Of gardens full of forget me nots
It’s just too hot to sleep tonight
Up I get with poems to write
Thoughts come quick, thoughts go fast
Type I do before they pass
But alas my skill is far too low
The rhyming lines start to slow
Flickering light of the TV set
May chance my luck on the internet
Lids are heavy, eyes not bright
This is my chance to sleep tonight
Jump off the seat quick to bed
No time to waste, rest my head
Finally I drop to sleep,
With sweaty hands, sweaty feet
Work tomorrow must be bright
Another midnight summer plight!

Silence

Silence once again, no one to share
All of the paintings, they seem to stare
Lost in ones pain, try not to reflect
Drive away the misery, suppress the regret
Loneliness can eat you, just like a disease
Others try to help, with difficult unease
How I long for noise, joyful chatter
Or simple conversation, it would not matter
I know others have feelings like this
Believe there swallowed, by the encompassing abyss
But most clouds have a silver lining, so they say
As there is always good memories, that perfect day
Chin up, get dressed, and time to go out
A chance to meet someone to remove the doubt
If you submit to the thoughts inside your head
You may become one of the walking dead

Chance

Chance

This woman with the lovely blue eyes
Feelings she hides with a well warn disguise
One who stands in front with heart so pure?
Who feels with love that is insecure?
Can she see the patient man from the pack
Problems from the past that she cannot turn back
All cloud the felling that should be true
That is available for me and you
So now I will have to be strong
Maybe I can rite this terrible wrong
And make this woman again complete
Task that I am willing to complete
Drink the feelings that she lets through
Slay the beast and tame the shrew
I know I am not the most attractive man
But my sole is a window, do the best I can
My only wish is that she will let me in
Sure I will control the urge that lies within
Hope that this could leads to romance
I will do the best no to blow my chance

Kiss

Kiss
The first kiss soft and tender
A memory that will last for ever
Alas this moment ended much too fast
If time I stoped, could have made it last
Unusual start, lost in steel and rubber
Persistence prevailed, found one another
A table for two chose our fare
Those Hazel eyes, had to stare
Blue suit you wore, looked so pretty
Night went so fast, such a pity
28 days away, endure I must
As you disappeared into the dust
Time is done this stint is through
Now I sit across from you
So lift a glass sip some wine
And let this night be sublime
This moment in time a rose by two
This was the promise I gave to you

Greed

Greed

Just outside, cool grass under my feet
The smell of orchids pungent, but sweet
The stars above look so bright
Look like beacons in the night
A glass of wine, a simple stroll
These are what soothe my troubled soul
Keeps me safe from stress of life
Allows me to sleep well at night
Not all can see the simple path
They make a choice, leave before the aftermath
Who cares about what happens tomorrow
As long as today, there is no sorrow
Rape the land need to feed
Life driven by simple greed
Don’t care what will happen to the most
As long the accolades for me they toast
These are the things that most will treasure
Material possessions not simple pleasure
How shallow are the well conceived
Mix with ones driven by greed
Worship their god who preaches about wealth
Then practice their trade with lies and stealth
Take down the innocent, take down the old
Got no morals, but look at my gold

All that gleams

All that gleams

As the sun sets on the old man’s face
He reflects of a different time and place
Of mates long gone, forgotten they’re not
Some died of misfortune some of them shot
When men were plenty and woman were none
Saturday night to the pub for fun
Of tin and canvas, an old camp bed
Rolled down swag to rest his head
Fire and billy to make the brew
His life time savings hidden in a shoe
Chase the rock in the light that gleams
Answer to his life long dreams
The day was hard, the day was hot
Some made a fortune, most did not
He was lucky with the clame he pegged
Worked it hard, his future it shed
Grandad, grandad brings him back
From that time of the old tin shack
Kid yells out what’s for tea
Come over and sit on my knee
Tell me son, what did you do today
Please grandad, I just want to play
Sun has sunk into the sea
Spot on son, time for tea!
