The Emerald Isle (Haiku)

O beautiful Green,
with rare sites so inviting,
one day I will see

"Happiness" (Haiku)

An empty wallet
but a heart that's full of joy
equals happiness!

A Sister's love

?Do you remember that little saying
I've said it often enough.
About the true meaning of Love
and Friendship and all that stuff

I don't think I'll ever forget it
It expresses my feelings so true
The way we became who we are
and the reason I love you

I hope you don't ever forget it
please remember it till the end
For this is the reason we are who we are
and why we are the best of friends

But just in case it ever slips your mind
I will remind you once again:
"Chance made you my Sister
Love made you my Friend!"

About this poem:
I wrote this little poem for my sister on December 31, 2001. She recently found it again and showed it to me and I thought I would post it on here, for all the sisters :)

the mountain

I hold on tightly and take a small step
It seems an eternity since I’ve moved

Bones ache and palms are blistered
My soul is weary and heart weak

Along with frustration and doubt
The thought to let go tries to take hold

One hand loosens it's grip almost completely
As I turn towards where I’ve come

Moonlight shines in valleys behind me
Barren and lonely, not yet forgotten

Scars forever brands my arms and legs
Never ending proof of their existence

Slowly I begin to feel a warmth
I turn and look around

A brightness begins to seep towards me
It seems to touch my soul

I take another look around
Mountains become visible behind me

All of them I had overcome
My hand tightens once more

The Light becomes brighter
I breathe in deeply and take another step

My goal is within sight now
And my heart is light again

About this poem:
I wrote this poem in 2005. It's a little rough,... but it reminds me not to give up, no matter how hard things get.

The Pillar

A Pillar that stands all alone
After others have all come and gone

Continuously supporting, as is it's duty
Holding nothing back and giving completely

Out in plain sight, but totally unseen
No one hears its silent scream

The ache of loneliness never healed
The void of happiness never filled

The quiet urge to be worth more
But never having an open door

The constant burden weighing heavily
I am that pillar; that pillar is me

About this poem:
This is the first poem that I have posted on this site, and actually I've never showed this poem to anyone before.
I definitely do not consider myself a very good poet, and I do not write regularly. Just sometimes when I'm really emotional about something, I start to rhyme a little. As in this case, I was feeling pretty down; alone and just not seen, even though I try to be and do everything right.
