the Damascene houses

The Damascene House Is beyond the architectural text The design of our homes . . . Is based on an emotional foundation For every house leans . . . on the hip of another And every balcony . . . Extends its hand to another facing it Damascene houses are loving houses . . . They greet one another in the morning . . . And exchange visits . . . Secretly—at night . . .

thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up...so poetic and vivid description...I just imagine this viscous southern night and still warm houses whispering their secretes ...
@ Ibram - wave .. My understanding is that a Damascene House is a little like a villa surounding a central water feature like a fountain or well.... conversing

... grin cheers
Yes that s right....
Ibram Beautiful. I think most rows of houses whether Cottages in Ireland or small houses in Iraq, hold each other up, there is a sense of one looking after the other. It is altruistic. Hopefully the occupiers are kind and look after each other too. The singing .. well that is beautiful too. In the late afternoon sun when it is getting cooler, and the Herbs are green and lush. flirty Just dreaming here in rainy Ireland.
A viscous night. Hot and humid.

I visited some in Damascus about 18 months before the troubles began. Alas.
