Snake and the Cat

Yesterday on my backyard I was just sitting down having a beer and minding my own, then I saw some movement from my right, it was a snake, being followed by a cat, the cat trying desperately to get a good grab from snake's head, snake making that noise ssss, while cat jumping back and forth, for not to be bitten by snake, suddenly like a lightning cat finally took snake head into its mouth, that was the end of that snake and for the cat, a delicious large size meal.cats meow

Invasion Earth

My little apartment is being invaded and as it is, there is not enough space for me. The new invaders, mostly spiders and geckos are driving me up the bend.frustrated

I’m not scared of either of them but the geckos leave their droppings on my walls and the spiders spin their webs all over the show. Between removing cobwebs and cleaning my walls, I don’t get much chance do anything else. My sister said it happens every year about this time and the geckos are probably brought by the granadilla plant outside my bedroom window. This is why they do not let the flat to other people. A fine time to tell me about it!doh

Unlike mice, rats and roaches which I kill on sight, geckos and spiders are on my list of creatures that I don’t kill. Geckos, because I consider them harmless and spiders because they eat flies. Any creature prepared to follow a diet as humble as flies, deserves to live. But enough is enough! Anyway, they are at the wrong place because I seldom have a fly in my house.grin

But how do I get rid of them without using poison? I don’t like using poison and I fear that my cat may eat one of the poisoned geckos if I start a chemical war. Does this constitute weapons of mass destruction?confused

So for now I will try to tolerate them but knowing me as well as I do, I will soon get fed up and use action that is more drastic. Hopefully some of them have internet so they can read this blog and leave peacefully on their own accord. Or maybe somebody can reason with them? I would love to resolve this issue without violence.help

Attend to one thing and lost another

A boring Saterday morning today, but the weather was fine, sunny and warm. My turtle came out again for her food. She hidden somewhere for couple of days ago. I know that she is ready for her long winter sleeping.professor

She is an intersting creature, has lived with me for 5 years since very small. She takes off her old shells twice a year. Sometimes I help her doing that complete. She likes clean her eyes with her front feet when in water,or lies motionless under the sunshine for a long time in Summer, a very sensitive with the temperature. she likes under the Sunshine, So today I put her on the arm of chair's after eating and am waiting there to see what will happen...wink

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I should learn to keep my trap shut but there are things that can annoy me so much that I have to speak. A dog on a chain is one of those things.sigh

Ever since I moved here – while taking my morning walk - I have been noticing this dog in the front yard a few blocks down the road. I don’t know the English name of the breed but in my language we call it a skaaphond which translates to a sheep dog. I suspect it may be of English origins. It is a black and white dog with hair of medium length. We keep them on our sheep farms as they are very good with sheep. crazy

I would not really have bothered as it not a spectacular dog. It was well fed with water within his reach and enough shade. But it was tied to a stake in the ground by means of a 2-meter chain.frustrated

This morning, for the first time, I saw the owner in the garden. I introduced myself and we shook hands in true South African style.handshake

“Nice dog”, I commented.

Yes”, he replied. “A well tended dog”.

“You mean a well fed dog”, I said. It slipped out before I could catch it.

“So what is the difference?” he asked. I did not fail to notice the annoyance in his eyes.

“He’s on a chain”, I said.

“Yes, so he is. Otherwise he ruins my garden”, he replied, now clearly irritated.

“That is easy to explain”, I said. “These dogs need plenty of space. He belongs on a farm”.

“Why don’t you mind your own business”, he exploded.

Well, he was right, it was none of my business, and I proceeded with my walk. I normally come back up the next street but my inquisitiveness forced be back the same way and when I passed the house he pretended not to notice me while attaching a steel ring to a tree.hmmm

Can it be that he plans to put the dog on a cable? I surely hope so. It will not satisfy me but it will certainly make me happier.

This is Hercules

He is a Liger, a cross between a Lion and a Tiger. He is currently one of the largest cats on Earth.

He is a very gentle animal and has not been taught how to hunt. He likes having his belly scratched, drinking milk from a baby bottle and playing with beach balls in the water. Like most tigers he does not fear water and like a big brown bear can even hold his breath and swim underwater whenever they so desire. Bet you thought going into the pool would create a safety zone, didn't you? Hercules and the other big cats never watched a Tarzan movie so he and they don't know Hollywood says they can't swim, play or hunt underwater.

Some people can rock the boat. Hercules can rock the bus. LoL, he can probably roll the bus like a ball if he wanted to.
