Women, through the ages....

Watching a series of lectures produced by The Teaching Co., as part of their Great Courses Series. College level presentations, for the most part, on lots of topics. Get on the catalogue mailing list, as they are practically giving them away these days. Better still, your local librarian can borrow them on ILL programs. Anyway, Prof. Bob Garland of Colgate U., has a nice 48 lecture course on ancient history, running from prehistoric times, (where most of us men on CS are still stuck), right up to the middle ages. His take is refreshing, as he mostly ignores the usual topics involving conquest and the wealthy, choosing instead to focus on the lives of the rest of us. Striking info, especially between the sexes. Hint....women almost always seem to get treated along the lines of present day Islam. Aa.

Someone asked me this question just a few days ago, found this answer

Question: "How did people know about God before the Bible?"

Answer: Even though people did not have the Word of God, they were not without the ability to receive, understand and obey God before there was a Bible as we know it. In fact, there are many areas of the world today where Bibles are not available, yet people still can and do know about God. The issue is one of revelation—God’s revealing to man what He wants us to know and understand about Himself. While there has not always been a Bible, there have always been means for man to receive and understand God’s revelation. There are two categories of revelation, general and special.

General revelation deals with that revelation from God universally to all mankind. The external aspect of general revelation are those things which God must be the cause or source of. Because these things exist, God must also exist in order to have put them into existence. Romans 1:20 tells us “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.”
So all men and women everywhere can look at the creation and know that God exists. Psalm 19:1-4 further explains that the creation speaks clearly of God in a language that all understand. “There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard” (verse 3). The revelation from nature is clear. No one can excuse himself because of ignorance. There is no alibi for the atheist, and there is no excuse for the agnostic.

Another aspect of general revelation—that which God has revealed to everyone—is in the existence of our conscience. This is internal. “What may be known of God is manifest in them” (Romans 1:19). People today, because of what they have on the inside, are conscious that God exists. These two aspects of general revelation are clearly seen in the countless stories of missionaries coming upon native tribes who have never seen a Bible or heard of Jesus. Yet, when the plan of salvation is presented to them, they know that God exists because they see evidence of Him in nature, and they know they need a Savior because their consciences convict them of their sin and their need of Him.

Quick Thinking...

Crime is everywhere.

If you are thinking this might never happen to you then you are living in a dream world.

Now that syndicates and criminals see how soft targets are getting its going to escalate, especially with the influx of people into Europe and else where from war torn countries.

We have adapted to crime to the best of our ability in SA and this keeps one on your toes so to speak.

bye and thanks for all the fish...

last night I was browsing the forum threads and the abuse and vitriolic comments being posted were way over acceptable normal banter, they were positively toxic, yet, no one really cared, sure the odd members said 'your out of order', but it was allowed to continue, unabated, over several threads...

another member has posts in the 'blogs' that are racist, incites men to hate women and he continually abuses women and other members, yet, even thought comments have been disabled, his blogs are available to be viewed by the general public...

I brought this subject up a little while ago and to be honest, the general consensus of the replies was, 'let it go', 'don't read the thread', 'ignore them' etc... well that's not me...

I am not against free speech or someones right to an opinion, that's what a democracy is all about, having a free will and being able to express it... so thanks to all the members who did post comments on my threads...

perhaps I am not thick skinned enough?... but that's how I am... so now I am exercising my free will and heading off...

~ remember, next time a stranger talks to you when your alone, look at them shocked and whisper quietly "you can see me?" ~

Thank you CS and fellow bloggers

Hello fellow citizens of the blog world.

This is to acknowledge how great this place is. First it's free. Second we get to meet and be friends of so many people. Not only local but international.

To me, the most important thing is I get to learn. Not only about dating, but the whole enchilada of life and the world. Including but not limited to the mysterious universe and aliens. it's truly amazing.

This post is to particularly address those very erudite and intellectual members who when ask of clarification and or elaborate their concept and ideas, please be kind. It's not an insult, it's only for the purpose of understanding that I might learn more. Thank you.

I want to learn, I've said that many a times, so when I am too rusty and can't understand the idea presented, I believe a little explanation, would help me.

Please be kind and be patient. We're all born different. Some are super smart and some are not too smart like me.

It's all I ask. I know we all contribute to the colorful and diversified benefits this site offers. I am trying so hard to participate and contribute to the desired objectives of this place. I'm so grateful to be here.

I hope everyone is.

Thank you CS, and thank you all fellow members.

I know not everyone likes me, and that's alright, too.

I hope it's the case but it's impossible considering all our personal bias and prejudices. Not to mention our highly charged cultural and social values.

Just the same, I'm very grateful that I've learned a lot and continue learning until my last breath is charged.

Thank you all for your reads and or comments if any.
