Are women capable of coping without men?

As individuals, plenty of women have great lives without men; and men can cope without women too.

If all men died today, women would survive and thrive. We would re-engineer things that require tall and physically strong people to accommodate our smaller bodies. We already can have a woman artificially inseminated with two women’s DNA to produce a child.

If all the women died today, men would have to scramble to finish the tasks of creating artificial wombs and finding ways for men to carry children, if indeed it is possible without an egg. I am not sure where the science is on that.

Teaching new dogs old tricks...

Most of the people I work with have been in cabinet manufacturing more than 30 years and it's rare to see some 'new blood' entering into this field. Most of the new ones who come along, have been schooled in a related design field and have their sights on bigger and better. Being in the kitchen cabinet business is only a stepping stone to being interior designers.

Last year, we had a young girl who could do everything we taught her, but her mind wasn't on the job and she moonlighted as a designer selling furnishings and eventually left us to work at a design center.

Her replacement came from another country as an architect but cannot work in America without proper certification/license. While she's good at using the design software, she's lacking some basic knowledge about the kitchen cabinet business that you cannot learn in college or technical trade schools. It's my job to train her in the way that works for us so a year from now, she will be a valuable employee.

Lot's of job folders come across my desk for review and this week, it's labeling the files with the proper identification she needs to work on. I've seen a few drawings for 'master bath' and unable to figure out what customer that 'master bath' drawing is for. The information is listed on the drawing, but I need to see it in the title strip (file name) of the drawings so we can quickly identify the drawing.

I really don't want to be an old dog teaching a new dog some old tricks, but it's got to be done.

What Shocked You today?

Greatful Heart
_______________
An evening to remember for us with my big boys as we dine in one exclusive restaurant around....

We noticed that the place is surprisingly empty and just 3 tables were occupied. We quickly realized that there’s just one person taking care of the entire restaurant.

He walked to us, took our order and does the same for the table adjacent to ours.

15 minutes later, Benhur(the waiter) walked to our table:

Benhur: I’m sorry for the delay, would you like something to drink?

Me: No problem, can we get a couple of beers?

Benhur:Sure.

He went to the adjacent table where there’s a party of 4 and apologized to them too.

30 minutes later..

Benhur:I’m really sorry, there’s an issue in our kitchen and all the orders had to be redone. Your food will be out in a few minutes.

Me: Sure, that’s okay. We can wait.

Benhur: The beer is on me, free of charge.

He goes to the adjacent table and it’s clear that they’re not very amused with the delay. One woman from the party speaks up in a rather rude tone and claims that it’s ridiculous to wait for over 45 minutes for a simple Quesadilla. She suggested that if the restaurant can’t manage with one server they should either shut down for the night or hire more people.

Having listened to an earful, Benhur politely apologized again and handed a 100 pesos bill to each member of the party as a token of apology.

They accepted the cash with no hesitation and promptly walked out.

My boys and I look at each other with disbelief as Benhur walks past us with a smile on his face.

We are served the food eventually. It was as delicious as it can get.

Benhur: How was the food?

Me: Impeccable. Some of the finest Tex-Mex I’ve had for a while.

Benhur:Glad to hear. Let me clear the plates out for you.

Me: Sure. Can I have the check please?

Benhur: I’m sorry, there’s no check for you tonight.

Me: What do you mean?

Benhur:It’s not acceptable to wait 45 minutes at a restaurant. The entire meal is on me.

Me: No Sir. I cannot leave without having paid for the food. I saw what you did
at the other table and I’d hate for you to lose money for what seemed like an unfortunate circumstance that could happen to any one.

Benhur:That is very kind of you. But I cannot expect my customers to pay when the service is not good.

Me: But how can we show how we are greatful of you.

Benhur: Would be glad if you visit again.

And smiled as he left our tableteddybear

English, a global language

The English Language is used in many states as official language and not only.
For non natives speakers it's always going to be confusing because there are many dialects.
My question is:If you are American and watch TV and listen to someone from Scotland,Cameroon,Wales or Ireland speaking English.how do you find it?Do you understand all they are saying?

NAFTA

Seems like Canadians are getting prepared regarding the idea of scrapping the trade agreement...although it is a complex issue...it appears that Trump is just blowing hot air and he is enjoying that blustery image...like a mob boss...don't f*ck with me attitude...

Brian Mulroney the former PM along with Reagan former President...forged an agreement in the 80's...it brought many jobs throughout North America...as Mulroney states...let's look at the figures...that speaks volumes...

Although agreements can change through time...is it in the best interest of North America to be held hostage by a unstable POTUS?..

Here are some video clips discussing what the end of free trade could do...

This is Albert, he’s a miserable old git. Albert would love to be happy but a rare genetic condition means that being anything less than slightly grumpy could be disastrous for him. Merryphobia only effects .01% of the population but, for those who have the condition, it is far from a joke. In fact, a joke is something people like Albert need to be as far away from as possible.

Merryphobiacs are allergic to their own endorphins, they simply cannot afford to allow themselves the slightest mirth. If albert were to experience even the lowest level of amusement his immune system would release antibodies into his blood stream that would severely put his life in danger.

Although much research has been done to understand, and develop an effective treatment for merryphobia, progress has been painfully slow. In the meantime, the only way to minimise the vulnerability of merryphobiacs is through dehumerisation therapy: In effect, the sufferer’s sense of humour needs to be completely switched off through rigorous and intensive counselling techniques.

This is where you come in: £50 pays for a day’s therapy, and most patients need at least three weeks continuous treatment. The more you can donate, the more people like Albert will be given a life line. No matter how much or how little you can spare, remember: every penny counts. Please give today and don’t let Albert die laughing.

Thank You.

Infant School

My youngest granddaughter starts junior school in September and my daughter was saying how sad it was to see her leave the infants. I suppose watching your kids’ progression through school is a reminder of how quickly they are growing up. Our conversation made me think of my infant school and how I can barely remember being there. In fact, there are only three specific events that I can actually remember from infant school, and absolutely nothing else.

The first, I seem to think, happened quite soon after I very first started. During the morning we had a short break, when we were allowed to eat a sweet. We had to provide our own sweets and weren’t allowed to eat them in class at any other time. One particular day, the girl at the next desk to mine had placed her sweet on her desk and then wandered off for some reason. Back then my self control must have been even poorer than it is now because I remember grabbing the sweet and eating it. I also remember vigorously denying doing it when, on returning to her desk and putting two and two together, the girl ran off and returned with the teacher. I know the teacher didn’t accept my protests of innocence and I know I got into trouble, but I can’t remember the actual consequences. I’m pretty sure some kind of punishment was the outcome.

Event two also involved punishment of a kind, and it was a punishment that would have perfectly fitted my crime had I committed one. Again, at some time during the morning, every member of the class was given a small bottle of milk and a straw, and for a few minutes we all sat quietly drinking our milk. On this particular morning I finished drinking my milk and returned the bottle to the crate from whence it came, just like I did every other morning. But, unlike every other morning, shortly after putting my bottle back in the crate I was confronted by the teacher, who was accompanied by one of the girls. I don’t think it was the girl from the sweet incident but it would explain what happened if it was. It turned out the girl had gone and told the teacher that I had put my bottle back in the crate without finishing all the milk, which, apparently, must have been considered a very serious matter. I was severely told off for wastefulness and told to retrieve my discarded bottle from the crate and finish drinking the milk. On going through the bottles in the crate it transpired that at least half of them contained a small amount of milk. To be fair to the teacher, she did leave it to me to decide which had been my bottle, but in reality, I didn’t have any more idea of which one had been mine than she did. I remember retching as I sucked the -by now- room temperature milk through a straw that had almost certainly been previously sucked through by someone other than me. I still wonder to this day why all the other not quite empty bottles were of no apparent concern to the teacher.

When I was seven I broke my wrist and had to have a plaster cast on my arm. Apart from seeing it as an inconvenience I must also have seen its potential as a weapon because I remember clobbering a classmate on the side of the head with it. She ran, crying, back into school to tell the teacher, and I ran, scarpering, out of the school yard. Inevitably, when I went into school the next day I reaped what I had sown the day before, but I can’t remember the exact nature of the harvest.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed that a common element to all three unfortunate events was the presence of a girl. Just sayin.
