Fingerprinting. (5)

Just some info that some people might not know of.

In most countries, a record is kept of convictions and the fingerprints of people who have been convicted. Only offences punishable by imprisonment are usually recorded in this way. The police can only take your fingerprints if:
You give your consent, in writing, at a police station. uh oh

An officer of at least the rank of superintendent authorizes the procedure in writing.
Your consent is not required if there are reasonable grounds for fingerprinting.

The reasons for fingerprinting must be explained to you.professor

If you are charged with an offence, fingerprinting may be done without your consent.
Reasonable force may be used to take fingerprints.

REMEMBER
In some countries, including Britain, you may witness the destruction of fingerprints if you are cleared of an offence as soon as is practicable.

Unnecessary risks in the urban environment(3)

I live in quite a dangerous country and maybe these tips are not meant for you if you are residing in heaven?

Just some simple tips in life might help you one day who knows?professor

Every man, woman and child has to face a multitude of dangers in their lives. For me It's VITAL to understand the dangers at home, at work, and on the streets try to get to grips with as many as possible. Take control! The safer you make your day-to-day existence, the better able you will be (and the more time and energy you will have) to deal with major crises. How can you expect to deal with a serious health, emotional or financial set-back, if youre totally preoccupied with surviving the dangers of your own home?

Your strategy must be to avoid unnecessary risks in the urban environment and minimize the damage caused by those you cant avoid. You must develop an attitude to urban life that will help you cope with all kinds of situations.
Injury, torture and murder have been tools of certain groups, mainly to destabilize a community through fear and to deter opposition, whether the perpetrators are acting against an established government or in the name of a political cause.
Bomb attacks and assassination however tend to bring the greatest publicity. Kidnapping and blackmail may be employed even by legitate governments trying to impose their will on a minority.

DONT advertise your presence or your movements or even a wedding announcement could tell an assassin where you are going to be at a certain time.
Book hotel accommodation under an assumed name.

DONT stick to a pattern. Vary transport, times and routes to work. Avoid roadworks and congested streets. Change vehicles during longer journeys.
Make a habit of looking out of the window before leaving a building. Watch out for people loitering on foot or sitting in parked vehicles. uh oh

Glance over your shoulder frequently but unobtrusively, you DONT want to attract attention and use reflections in shop windows to see if you are being followed. To be honest I have found that once all these precautions become a habit you become more relaxed. uh oh

Be friendly with neighbours. You may need them to let you know if anyone is asking questions or taking an unusual interest in you but DONT divulge your business or movements to them. At times it helps to be vague.buddies

Call ahead when making journeys and dont forget to call your base when you arrive.
Arrange a coded phrase to be used if you are in danger or under duress and need help. Choose an arrangement of words that can be fitted into normal conversation. It can be anything which sounds innocent eg I didnt bring a raincoat, The roads were clear, Sorry. This is a really bad connection.
When your contact hears these coded phrases he she will immediately know you need help and act accordingly.help
You might think all this is silly but believe me when I say it worked for me.
cheers

When/if Arrested (4)

If you are ever caught up in a situation that involves the police treating you as a suspect in a crime, it is good to know the basics of the laws which govern the process and of course your rights. If you can speak/understand a small amount of police language, you may be able to ask the right questions.

This is just the basics and hopefully the 'experts' on CS will pass on to greener pastures,or write their own thoughts on this if my thoughts are unsatisfactory to them.. I'm just Touching briefly on this subject and this is just a guideline.

Countries that are members of the UN must comply to their (UN) set of rules and regulations regarding Law and order with each countries modifications added to suite the specific country.. So if you are in Tswane (South Africa) or London the basics are the same.

An officer of the law may arrest you without warrant if there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that an arrestable offence is being or has been committed.
OR if there are any reasonable grounds to suspect that you were about to commit an arrestable offence.
OR if you were clearly about to commit a crime that warrants an arrestable offence.

A suspect MUST be informed that he/she is under arrest and of the grounds (reasons) as soon as possible. Giving this information to you will be difficult if you are trying your best to give the arresting cop a hard time laugh

A police officer must take a suspect to a police station as soon as possible.

A suspect has a right to inform someone (directly or indirectly) of the arrest.
A suspect may consult a attorney, but if the offence is serious, the police may delay this for 36 hours (the maximum length of time a suspect can be held without going to a magistrates court, unless suspected of terrorist activity). Its advisable that the attorney should attend any court hearing.
You dont have to answer questions. If you feel you have been wrongly arrested you have a right to say so. Whatever you say, even to claim innocence will be noted. innocent

If the police decide to charge you, they must tell you so. You need not answer any further questions and can expect to be allowed to consult an attorney.uh oh

The suspect should be informed as to whether he/she will be released or charged or held for other reasons.
In most cases you have a right to one phone call. If this is to an anxious parent or an attorney, there should be no problem. there has been evidence that suggests that it is not always easy to make the telephone call successfully. uh oh

REMEMBER
If you are NOT under arrest but only helping with enquiries you do not have to stay with an arresting officer and you should have this explained to you. In most cases you will have no problem if you comply. You may have a real need to be somewhere else, and could arrange to visit the station at another time.

This info MIGHT just help someone somewhere some day in a small way. Who knows?

Just saying:

I pledge allegiance to no flag. I fought a total of 12 years in once one of the best military armies in the world. 10 years actively out of the 12. After that 5 more years as a PMC in different countries as Sierra Leone, Iraq. Returning to SA I was in Police intelligence for 2 years. Im no expert but survival is/was my life.
I fear No Man only God.

Aussie universities....

...In an effort to increase employment for graduates, the fees for so called humanities disciplines, compared to the STEM ones, will be more than doubled. So nursing, engineering and maths students are in the pink. History, communications, and English ones, well, not so much. Some merit involved, but.....
Should be protests galore. One more move to destroying the idea of the life value of a general studies undergraduate degree. The ancients, classicists, and middle ages academics, would be livid. Not to mention those of the enlightenment.

Interesting

When I open up Youtube I am presented with a seemingly random selection of videos. Most look boring, but every now and then one of them catches my attention. I found this one particularly fascinating. It is quite safe to watch; it contains no politics or religion. smile

a thing of value

“Public education does not exist for the benefit of students or the benefit of their parents. It exists for the benefit of the social order.

We have discovered as a species that it is useful to have an educated population. You do not need to be a student or have a child who is a student to benefit from public education. Every second of every day of your life, you benefit from public education.

So let me explain why I like to pay taxes for schools, even though I don't personally have a kid in school: It's because I don't like living in a country with a bunch of stupid people.”

Displaying Tolerance

As a high school teacher working in an inner city school, I lost count of the number of times I encountered students who presented themselves in an insubordinate insulting manner. But as a teacher I never hit a student or felt the urge to shoot them dead. Indeed I put my hands behind my back so as to display a non aggressive pose. My function was twofold - first to demonstrate productive behavior and instill the same in these soon to be adults. I wish I could say the same of our street guardians - the police. All too often insubordination is met by the police not with tolerance, but with lethal force.

Okay your turn. Time for all you "tolerant" right wing thinkers to tell the world how I am wrong. I had my say.
