Interesting

When I open up Youtube I am presented with a seemingly random selection of videos. Most look boring, but every now and then one of them catches my attention. I found this one particularly fascinating. It is quite safe to watch; it contains no politics or religion. smile

Hmmm...I see what you're getting at Herbie. wink

Are you now more enlightened?
Or...are you trying to prove a point?applause
Of course it does but...does everybody else also sees it?
Or...only see what they want to see?dunno
thumbs up

One of the goals of science is to extend our senses by creating useful tools and tests to answer questions with controls to eliminate other causes for those answers. It's one of the reasons, that
scientists understand beyond the average person.
I am not telling anyone what conclusions they should draw from it, Daniela, I just thought some people might find it more interesting than all the religious claptrap that is flying around lately.
Yes, Jim, some of us choose to follow the science, and others choose to stick with superstition and myth. It is a choice.
Once you realise that you can't even trust what is right in front of your eyes, Oldeguy, you become even more aware of how ridiculous it is to trust the ancient scribblings of ignorant desert dwellers.

I know what you mean about the verses. Having the Bible quoted at you in the hope of making an impact when you have already made it clear that it means nothing to you seems a very bizarre thing. Especially, as you say, when it is done by means as far removed from God as you can get. dunno
I see see what you mean, Oldeguy. smile
Faith in the lying eye is about survival. The instinctive urge to duck when there's a fist flying to your face rather than relax safe in the knowledge that nothing comes into contact with anything else.
Harb ~ Very interesting. My x was an artist and we both loved painting.
I saw colours in a different way to him. He was not colour blind and is a great artist but sometimes his trees and mountains would be 'off' and I would say, do you not think that there is too much of a purple hue or orange... he took my advise and would change the colour. I have problems with dimensions. I even knew as a child that we even heard things differently. You can see it in certain illnesses where Autistic children will not interpret eye signals, smiles correctly and a low self esteem may make us think that somebody has ignored us all night when they haven't. Body Dysmorphia is another painful conditon .

What we see is not reality , and for me I can only say, I choose to live in my own world. No, not as a person with Autism might do, but having the choice there are some realities that I refuse to see. I live life as I want to see it. This probably makes no sense as am tired and getting ready for bed. It is something that you can think deeper on and it was a good blog.
Interesting to note the cicadas, akubra hat and unmistakable Australian bush about 10-12 mins into the video. At that point the presenter's voice became instantly Australian too ... some element of perception had kicked in
No matter how much you deny the concept of reality, Chesney, it is very difficult to experience a punch in the face as being anything other than real. uh oh
Once you accept that there is no such thing as objective reality, gg, it seems to me that you have two choices: You can think to yourself, what's the point of anything, or you can see it as an opportunity to create your own reality. We already unconsciously create our own reality, but knowing there is no such thing as objective reality frees us to choose a better one. joy
The presenter's voice always sounded Australian to me, or somewhere thereabouts, Fargo. I suppose the accent is more distinct to a non-Australian.
GG - the best way to think on Autism is they see the world thru different eyes, have trouble filtering out sensory overload and are blind to body language. Because people fear the unknown society as whole tends to reject Autistics, adding social isolation to their woes. And all because they see the world thru different eyes.

In the case of scientist they are exposed to instruments that greatly expand the human senses. But seemingly only those who write fiction - science fiction - seem able to explain their vision to the layman. As an example the original Cosmos series was written by Carl Sagan, an avid sci fi author of many books.

Harbal I apologize for going off topic
That's okay, Oldeguy, this isn't a classroom. smile
Harbal ~ Sorry I pressed it too hard... can u delete ?
I don't think I made any sense about living the life I had decided was the right one for me , intellectually and emotionally. I Wish I was one of thosw people who can say it all in 2 lines. But I never was that person. cool
