Time is movement
Forward or back
And we're in the middle
Forward stretches
What's to be
Backward goes
Our history
How we act
What is now
Affected by choices
Future is
Or soon to be
Decided by
Our actions

About this poem:
Time moves around us...we are always in now

A heart is not confined
To time and place
Our thoughts like stones
in a brook are washed
Renewed by the river of life
Pure are the cold waters of adversity
Rejoice in the warm currents
That spawn new life
And grow into the person
You are!

About this poem:
Life either wears you down or polishes you up, depends what you are made of. (old appalachian saying)

Passing through all these portals over time
Lying on the edge of consciousness rift
Swaying back and forth between stars we climb
To the center where both our souls will drift
Please give me back what will not float away
Become trapped in rings that orbit my core
Like holding a match to papier-mache
Cannon shots through sails of a 'man-at-war'
Once again my dreams be set free at sea
Cause only there seperates day from night
Sets our senses to some highest degree
The sunrise and sets in sweeteness and light
That all these portals of time passing through
Make many days blessed for me and you

About this poem:
Reflecting on what a "day" is...metaphorically of course.....in a sonnet for just the fun of it....why else?

As I lay here alone,
in the silence of darkness’
digital age, sans the ticking
of the clock to mark
the passage of time,
I am engulfed by
thoughts of you.
It was only yesterday
(or was it the day before?)
that you came into my life
unexpectedly.
Within the protection
of my sheltering walls,
I heard you, stirring.
Now, there is no movement
under the covers of darkness
as outside my window
winter’s cold and whiteness
blanket the ground, deep,
and muffle all sounds
except winter’s wind.
Yet, I remember well
arising from a fitful sleep
moving about the house
in search of sound’s origin.
Downstairs still adorned
with tree and lights
I ventured with eyes
and heart wide open.
Not finding that which stirred
sound-waves of awareness,
I boldly passed through
the portal to the next floor
down into the basement
where darkness carries
its own weight.
Turning to the left,
a shelved item seen
on the floor, out of place.
Though perplexed, I turned
to the right, opening
yet another door until
I reached you, waiting.
There you were
fluttering your wings
time and time again
trying to get outside
pressing the glass
with your body, dark
with iridescent sparkle.
As soon as I realized
your distress, wide
did I open the door to
winter’s whiteness and
called upon you to leave –
to return to the comfort
zone of your nature.
Trying first to calm your fears
usher you to and out
the outside door,
then, attempting to capture you
without causing injury or harm,
lovingly, clumsily,
I struggled with each task.
Closing each door behind
I moved carefully
to direct your flight
but drove you into a corner
filled with a box
of yesterday’s memories.
Cowering, you rested there.
Piled on the box were rolls
of paper for the walls
that were keeping you inside.
One-by-one, I removed, thoughtfully,
until you were completely
exposed in your handsome
beauty and vulnerability.
Now, with hand confident
in the knowing
did I brush you forward
out of the corner
into the room of light
toward the brightness
of the new day.
At first, disoriented
then having to choose
between warmth
and freedom
you did hesitate, lingering
on the hanger of an item, cleaned
ready for another day's wear.
Finally, after another
moment’s pause, you rose
spread your wings
and headed straight
to the open door
back into the whiteness
and cold of freedom.
So, here I am
once again alone
in the muffled silence
of this new season
thinking of you
and our encounter
and how close we came.

Light from the darkest star shining on me
Travelling from blackest regions of space
Caught like the deepest creature in the sea
Wriggles in your net humble, needing grace
No longer hidden as I twist and turn
Shimmering light on my defenseless core
Trapped hopeless in the point of no return
Brings to surface what I try to ignore
There's no escaping great moments of truth
Twisting and turning my head in disgrace
Swimming in lies is really quite uncouth
When dimmest star light still shines on my face
Close to creation is found in the heart
Good love always sustains from the start

The little glow that remains
Dances warm in my heart
Far from the fire hence it came
Such as only love maintains
Ignited from the start
Caught in the light of the flame
Slowly over time help explains
Celestial stars to chart
Becoming one and the same
Spiraling across many domains
Never to come apart
Straight and true as Cupid’s aim

May your horse always guide you
May your saddle fit just right
May you count your New Year's Blessings
In the wondrous stars so bright
May you ride in peace and safety
Wherever you may roam
May you drink when you are thirsty
The love of Heart and Home
May your inner sense guide you
When the path becomes too steep
For the Good shepherd watches over you
Just look for the light and leap!

The whispering white crept through the night
The cold gnawed right to the bone
The eerie hue of cobalt blue
Gave shadows a life of their own
The rider and horse stayed their course
Ice drooped from bridle and brim
While waves of snow continued to grow
Making trails heavy and dim
Vapors were steamin' and lungs were screamin'
Icy spears penetrated inside
Limbs paid the cost as fingers of frost
Gave warmth no place to hide
Toward they surged and soon emerged
In a labyrinth of pine scented bough
A welcome respite from the hellish cold night
Where the norther continued to howl
Out of the weather he unhitched the leather
And of branches he made a soft bed
His thirst was slaked from the melting of flakes
The warming flames danced orange and red
Another dusk; another dawn, the storm raged on
A savage but hypnotic symphony
A wild moan and whistle that made life bristle
Entombed in all that white canopy
The winter has passed, it's spring at long last
Summer's heat has made its yearly call
And night becomes longer; winds seem to get stronger
Caressing trees and leaves start to fall
Old Sol in the sky marks years passing by
A century has come and gone
A Bible's pages have yellowed through ages
Listing those born and those who've passed on
A blurred entry remarked on page three
Of a grandfather missing along the way
Never resolved and this mystery unsolved
Puzzles all to this very day
In a thicket of pine grown up over time
Rest the bones of horse and rider unknown
And in the cold of December folks pause to remember
A cowboy who didn't get home.

Single a beat
Between brows of tawny
Red of Bengal
White of Snowy
Hooves
Fly
A ground
This tail
Of growth
Stunted
Death
Where East
Melts
Pot of West
Bones
Drier than Bangalore
Rains
This mind suspended
Belief
No breath labeled
Breathe
