THE GUITAR I HOLD AT NIGHT

Well, I’ve been down
on memory lane
Searching signs for my place
Deep inside I safely hide
My scarred guitar ‘n’ case

Guess I never played it when
Yesterday we could’ve been
Singin’ harmony, just you and me
Instead of whisperin’ the blues

But I doubted
(Don’t forget about this love)
that we wanted it this way
Yet without it
(Don’t you see?
Without your love)
I can’t find the strings to play . . .
No more (Repeat line 4x)

Kinda like that broken string
Missing Hue is all I sing
I’m just out of tunes
Empty, like fool moons
That the blues
won’t wash away

The guitar I hold at night
Don’t take your place
The guitar I hold at night
Won’t ever replace
Your love (Repeat line 4x)

About this poem:
After my 2nd (final) divorce, I found myself lonely & missing my daughters. The solace inspired my playing guitar & songwriting, though mostly depressing sad songs (not necessarily the "blues"). Even though I didn't want the wicked ex back, I could see how mainstream listeners might relate to having lost a love. Many double-entendres:
"down" = southbound -or- depressed
"signs" = roadway -or- symbolic direction
"inside"/"hide" = put my guitar there -or- as fugitive from law
"'n' case" = guitar in case -or- hide my felony charges (since resolved)
"strings" = guitar strings -or- "strength" -or- "connection"
"Kinda like" = "sort've similar to" -or- "sort've enjoy"
"Missing Hue" is another song I wrote: "Hue" = color -or- "you"
"out of tunes" = out of tune_ (off key) -or- uninspired to write songs
"fool moons" = white w/hole of full moon -or- drop trou to blow raspberry (foolish moon)
"blues won't wash away" = blue cloudy night won't make full moon disappear, nor will sadly singing inspire happy melodies.
"Guitar I hold" = hour-glass figure is poor substitute for loving woman

my love for you angel

i just want you to know that if i should die before
you i would write your name across the sky so the world
could see that you had mean the world to me,an i would me in heaven waiting on you an if you happens to go the other way i would rather
give the angels back there wings an risk the chance of eternal life just to be with you my angel.

de-javu

We put the problems in the shade
We force ourselves to rearange
There's nothing broke so don't fix this
You'll make things worse

So now here we go again
your lack of knowlege still persists
You should be ashamed

So eat your words but dont you choke
I'll laugh so hard that I prevoke
A fight that's wanted by your side
But not my side

Please put your gloves back down

Why can't you realize
That you words have no importance

It's all inside your head your head
You see like you do

You force yourself
To reap what you have learned

This is way to familiar
Like a hint of de-javu
Comfortable and almost numb

Still unwelcoming to me
Still still unwelcoming to me

With anger foward too me
I run for my life

Release these lies
Releas these lies

In a better light
You still look ugly

In a better light
You still look ugly to me

My lil' green Christmas truck

Hello out there in poet land!
I'm 60 and I got a lil' green
truck for Christmas!
That's all I got but I don't care..
All day long I play with my lil
truck
I even go to sleep with my lil
truck..
Would you like to come and play?
I roll my truck up and down the
walls..
All over the floors I DRIVE!
It's so exciting!
The big girls sometimes want to
take my truck from me but I won't
let them..
They tell me stuff like, When are you
going to go back to work and get out
of our hair?'
I just laugh and keep playing with
my lil green truck..
Mabey next year I'll go back to work..
Mabey when I'm 85..
You would like my truck ..
It goes Zoooom!
Mabey next year they'll buy you
a lil green truck cause you can't
have mine!

Woman of my dreams

Woman of my dreams
where are you
are you looking for me
like I'm looking for you
do you dream of me,at night
do you try,to hold me tight
though I'm not there
oh,woman of my dreams
where are you

Search and search
show me a sign
Search and search
you're the one
I need the most

I've checked every eye
of every car that rides by
but you're nowhere
to be found
woman of my dreams
just make a sound

Woman of my dreams
where are you
are you looking for me
like I'm looking for you
do you dream of me at night
do you try to hold me tight
though I'm not there
oh,woman of my dreams
where are you

Mornings

I use to love to wake up in the mornings with you by my side
it was a wonderful feeling till I found out it was a lie
at first I was devastated ,I turned to the whiskey and pills
but that finally convinced me that your love was never real

The days go by so slowly now cause you're not by my side
deep in my heart I still miss you, but I know your love is a lie
I've loved you and hate you all at the one time
and it finally convinced me
I don't want to make you mine.

Early fall

I can still remember I can still recall
The first time I met you it was early fall
There was autumn in your eyes I knew I had to have you

So we got together it was really good it was so perfect
Like a fairy tale should
You brought spring to me oh how I need you

Then something happened I just couldn’t explain
Out went the sunshine in came the rain
It’s so hard to believe that our perfect love would end

I can still remember I can still recall

When tomorrow starts without me

When tomorrow starts without me
I hope that you will see
that the love we share
is truly meant to be
Remember when we
snuggled up
it was so fine
I knew I was yours
baby, you where mine
sometimes love
don't work out
only God knows why
one heart wonders off
the other is left to cry

When tomorrow starts without me

I can do bad without you

I can be broke all the time
I can sit here and loose my mind
I don't need your I love you's
cause I know their not true
I can do bad without you

I don't need you to sleep in my clothes
I don't need you to get drunk alone
don't want to watch you put in your teeth
don't need you for my grief
I can do bad without you

I don't need you to ruin my van
I don't need to hear about another man
I don't need you to be calm
I don't need your psychotic mom
I can do bad without you

On a scale of one to ten you don't even hit it
Hell you're just not any good I finally admit it
all you do is stay drunk, each and every night
cuss at the kids, you know that ain't right
I can do bad without you

Bariatrics

Obesity is a Disease?
And how is that so, if you please?

We are what we eat, are we not?
Some eat a little, and some eat a lot.
Some work their buns off, and some won’t do squat.
So put it together, and what have you got?

Or does it fall out of the air,
unknown until now and at once everywhere?

It this thing contagious by touch or by genes?
Or glands out of balance, whatever that means?
Is that why it’s spreading to children and teens?

Now Medicare flatly decrees
Obesity is a Disease.

So taxpayers pay for a magical cure
instead of a thing that would do it for sure,
like rations of food that are miniature,
as if it cost money and people were poor.
The junk-food that isn’t nutritious
is fatty and bariatricious,
no better than paper, the research has found,
expensive as hell by the dollar-per-pound.
So why not eat money? Is that more unsound?
