Open Wide

No end to possibilities,
The world's an open slate.
No matter what your age or place,
It all comes down to fate.

Some days there's cold and cloudiness,
And others bright and warm.
But even in your darkest hour,
You might just find a charm.

It is said when life deals lemons,
You should make lemonade.
If sometimes sugar's hard to find,
Then find someone to trade.

So keep your options wide and loose.
Get out there, take a chance.
There's music playing ev'rywhere,
Just go ahead and dance.

W. U. I.

(Writing Under the Influence)

Sometimes it all comes out garbled,
Can't make heads nor tails the next day.
As if I'd lost all my marbles,
Now what was I trying to say?

But once in a while it's inspired,
A couple of nuggets I'll find.
It's almost as if I were wired,
My fingers just speaking my mind.

Later I'll fix up the scansion,
Make sure all the rhymes are just right.
Ideas may need some expansion,
From fragments composed in the night.

Then when the magic is churning,
When ev'rything's coming out fine,
The late midnight oils are burning,
As poetry mixes with wine.

Was There a Chance?

She told me it was nothing,
That I had done or said.
Which left but one conclusion,
Twas who I am instead.

Though I will always love her,
She's not in love with me.
Sure seemed it was, but sadly,
It wasn't meant to be.

If I had fought and argued,
What diff'rence would it make?
Was there a chance to change things?
Or was it much too late?

It's hard to know what action,
To take or what to say,
When someone tells you gently,
It's time to go away.

Gimme a Shot

I'm sure that I will get a job,
Because I'm not being picky.
All I need's a foot in the door,
Cause I know how to be tricky.

I have been down this road before,
Way more times than I can mention.
All I need is a chance to show,
Abilities and intentions.

I show up ev'ry day and try,
Give my best to be productive.
Cause moving up the ladder is,
Always my workin' objective

May not be strong or fast as once,
But maybe a little smarter.
Reliable, concientious,
Fast learner and a self-starter.

Wish Upon a Ticket

The economy sucks, no prospects found,
An' I ain't never stooped to robbery.
I'd be doin' all right, yeah mighty fine,
If I could only win the lottery.

Ain't got no job or even a car,
Unemployment checks are history.
It'd be okay, be a brand new day,
If I could only win the lottery.

I'd buy a big house and a fancy yacht,
Repay debts and my friends and family.
Every minute would be liesure time,
If I could only win the lottery.

I buy a few tickets every week,
So I'm doin' my part as you can see.
Wish the idjits would pick the right numbers,
So I could fin'lly win the lottery.

Earth Angel

She's was an angel in heaven, she was watching from afar.
She was his lucky seven, his bright and shining star.
She watches him when he sleeps at night, and comes to him in dreams.
She holds him in her wings so tight, she loves him to extreme.
She'll stay with him 'til the end of time, hand in hand she'll light his way.
The steepest hills she will help him climb, each and every day.
An order came from up on high, an answer to a prayer.
It was her charges heaven sent cry, needing her to go down there.
She was sent down to earth this day, to meet her special soul.
To guide him when he went astray, to fill his empty hole.
To bring him joy and happiness, that he prayed for every day.
To give him hope for his success, come rain or shine what may.
He passed her by a time or two, she'd smile and say hello.
This busy man had not a clue, yet he noticed her soft warm glow.
Then one night a guiding hand came down, and placed him in a room.
There she stood in evening gown, he could smell her sweet perfume.
They met each other once again, and danced the night away.
His life seems now not so mundane, prayers answered that he prayed.
Now little angels heaven sent, are at their feet at play.
Rocking on the porch content, their dark hair has now turned gray.
And when the children left that night, he reflected upon his past.
And he looked at her with eyes so bright, and then he had to ask,
"Whatever did I ever do, to have you in my life?
When you smiled and said I do, you became my loving wife.
And you were always there, to love and comfort me.
You took such loving care, you full filled my every need.
So now I'm going to ask, something I think I always knew.
So please remove your mask, and tell me 'Who ARE you?' "
About that time she looked at him, smiled, and her wings began to grow.
Sporting a halo bright and golden trimmed, she said "I'll have you know,
I am your angel from heaven, I was watching from afar,
I am your lucky seven, your bright and shining star.
I watch you when you sleep at night, and come to you in dreams.
I hold you in my wings so tight, I love you to extreme.
I'll stay with you 'til the end of time, hand in hand I'll light your way.
The ladder I will help you climb, for we're Heaven bound today."
As she took his hand in hers, and they lifted off the ground
You could hear him softly whisper, "There ARE Earth Angels to be found"

Nature's Calm

The sight of white velvet stretched across the land,
A breath frozen in midstream.
A calming quiet is at hand,
The day is such a wondrous dream.

People pass by, steady and slow
With a greeting, a smile, or a look.
And children excited with faces aglow!
A night's snowfall was all that it took.

The world seems purified from all of its sins,
A magic that only Nature provides.
It seems to promise anew, to begin,
Through the cold, a warmth born inside.

No man could hope to create an event,
With such an awesome affect.
Though some would try hard to their fullest extent,
Nature's ability commands a respect.

Not only just in its most powerful state,
But in its most gentle, too.
It has strength in its gentle, that all can relate,
Changing conscience which no human can do.

everything upside down

All I want is Time.
Time with you by my side.
but everything's denied.
And I live on with this pain inside.

I see you on the street.
A friend by each of your sides.
You stop and say 'hi'.
But it's something that I fantasize.

When the night gets cold.
I dream I have you to hold.
I love this warmth that's inside.
I wake and find I cant have what's not mine

Everything upside down.
And I just want to know what its like
To have you around.

His Little Angel

I know of a wonderful story and I'll tell you if I may,
About a divine meeting upon one special day.
A man all donned in Red and White with a beard as white as snow.
His eyes all filled with loving light and his soul, how it did glow.
Upon a bike, with Bag in tow, he rode to a special place.
He parked his Bike, then grabbed his bag, with a smile upon his face.
The first he saw was a little angel that came running up with pride.
She grabbed his hand with her small one and lead him straight inside.

"Hi, I'm Collette, she announced with joy, Please come with me", she said.
"I want for you to meet all of my friends," continuing as she lead.
He gladly followed, this little one with his heart all filled with awe,
For he was taken a back by her, this little angel that he saw.
She introduced him to all of her friends, even to those she did not know.
This man all donned in Red and White with a beard as white as snow,
She had never met this man before, only had heard of him in lore.
She knew of all he did for children, for him she did adore.

For you see he was a kind, kind soul, who brightens up the year.
And for all our children sick and well he brings them lots of cheer.
This Man he was amazed at her, for a light she brought to many.
He didn't know she felt ill that day, for complaining she didn't any.
She helped him with his gifts of love, each one she passed away.
And smile she did while giving them on this special day.
She also received a gift from him, but the most precious gift of all.
Was to be the one to help SANTA out, such a big thing for one so small.

You see this little Angel had a cancer inside her little head,
And not so very long ago, she passed away they said.
But though This Kind, Kind Gentleman was saddened by all of this.
He was given such a greater gift, by this little angel that he now missed.
She taught him that no matter what, the hardships we go through.
If one so small can be so brave, then we can do it too.
And now when this man Speaks of his Angel, this Real one that he knows.
She gently sits upon his shoulder and guides him where he goes!

From the Heart

Some things come straight from the brain,
Some come from the heart.
And then there's stuff from lower down,
At least that's where they start.

No matter where it's comin' from,
Still goes through your head.
Yeah, sometimes that's a problem, too,
Get tangled up in threads.

But other times there is a need,
Give a little thought,
To what you write or what you say,
Before you throw it out.

Now some folks go a diff'rent route,
Always off the cuff,
And that's okay, if that's their way,
But can be kinda rough.

Well I prefer to run 'em through,
Whole chain link by link.
I ask my heart and ask my my mind,
"Hey gonads! What you think?"
