The fear mongering was in reference to Trump...not Europeans...the problem with Trump is that he is making the Muslim population in the US fear others who feed off of Trump's fear speech...some do not want to go outside due to fear of being beaten up...it works both ways...

You talk about compassion - does your compassion apply only to the 20,000, or whatever number Canada is taking in, what happens to the person that is 20,001 or 20,002 or 20,010? Of course, not your problem. How good are the criteria used to select these lucky ones? How good are the ones judging and selecting? What happens to the ones who fled Syria but did not dare go to the camps for fear of being harrassed there because of their religion?

The Syrian refugees would have been able to go to the US but the attitude has changed...it is a global issue...and too bad other countries are not showing compassion...but if Canada can help with the crisis...we do what we can...of course we have a process to screen refugees...I have faith in my government to handle this matter...
Some refugees have private sponsors whether it be relatives or organizations, people want to help as much as they can...but not every refugee wants to live in Canada...but some have taken a leap of faith...
Once again religion is your issue...I am sure there are many stories regarding fear of harassment but there are many good acts that exist too...like this one...
I do not share your point of view...fearing refugees is not one of them...nor do I fear Muslims...I work with a few gals who are Muslim at the hospital...nothing scary about them... There are always going to be a few bad in the bunch...if they fail to adhere to Canadian laws...they will face punishment...like everyone else...

Red There are several private agencies taking donations for the refugees in Turkey...so they are receiving help...
Being in a refugee camp means not able to work and they live in a confined space...once the refugees arrive in Canada they will have the ability to work, learn english or french...and be a resident of Canada...
If you feel so strongly about child refugees...make a donation...or sponsor a family if you have the funds...
CAP The refugees spent some time in hotels due to the long flight they had been on...Canada is a huge country...travel to Ontario...or Alberta...or B.C....what did you expect?....so this allowance is necessary...then their journey continues to their sponsors home...
The refugees that are not sponsored will be housed in military bases as temporary shelters...it is a work in progress...
You must stop your anti=Syrian rhetoric...Canada will do what we need to do...and will continue to help refugees no matter what...if Europe is suffocated with the problems of the refugee crisis....no doubt other countries are finding solutions...it is a global crisis...we will help..
FYI Homeless have free meals all over the city...no need to go hungry...and we are increasing low income housing and increasing the number of shelters...
