Many of my western friends here in Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand married local girls. The advice I got from them when I sugested that I was going to get married was "don't do it unless you ?noy being unhappy and losing everything in your bank account". The cultural divide is huge and expectations from both sides are unrealistic. I know one man who was shot dead by his mother-in-law in Thailand,a man who jumped off the 11th floor of a building after losing his life savings here in Vietnam. I could go on and on. I don't know one western man or woman who is happy in their marriage out here.
I miss my Ma and Da as I'm sure all of us do or will do. Mine let all seven of us make our own choices and never questioned the choices we made. Bless 'em both.
This "war on terror" is nonsence and plain mad. The longer it goes on the fewer supporters it has. Some people are making big money out of it. Shame on the lot of them.
I'm on the run from Catholicism. I was born into it and rêjected it in my teens. Going back to it as the OP is now that he's a mature adult is a fine thing to do but it's just not the right thing for everyone.
P.S. Don't go tellin' them priests I'm hiding in a semi-commie country. Cheers. The pennance they'd give me along with the black eye after I told them my confession would tie me up for quite some time.
I lived in Yonkers for a year and a half and was a bicycle messenger in Manhattan. On Sundays I used to just go into Manhattan and walk around. I found it to be the most interesting way to discover the place. Have a great time and enjoy it! It's a great place with great and aFfordable food. Don't know anything about accomodation though.
As long as I can remember I looked at a map of the world and wanted to see as much of it as I could. As a little boy I'd watch migratory birds flying off to Africa and envy them. I've been on the road for 32 years now and am still living my dream. Regrets? Maybe when I can't make a living anymore. There's no pension in what I do. I have wonderful memories though.
