Western Psychiatry.....

...sure, some get help from these hairdressers of medicine. But probably less that 10-20 %, if one includes the troublesome medication side effects, and the sordid history of what was pushed, in terms of diagnosis, etiologies, and therapies. Recall, these are the folks who brought us the wandering uterus as a cause for Hysteria, tried to blame mothers for serious illnesses in their kids (schizophrenogenic mothers), now claim every 80th child is on the autism spectrum, also confused normal adolescent identity issues with an epidemic of "Multiple Personality Disorder" and worse. For several generations, Psycho- an*l- lysis a la conflict laden Dr. Freud, was the prefered treatment for nearly whatever ailed ya. Lie on a couch with the analyst silently listening/note taking behind you and out of sight, rarely saying a word, four or five days a week, for YEARS!---oh yeah, that'll help. Pathetic.

Yes they have a tendency to pidgeonhole diagnosis and stack up the med's because they get kickbacks from them. They think everything is addressable with man made chemicals, because the person is unable to feel anything after their dosage, and they think an inability to respond from these, is considered progress.
They just try to address symptoms, not causes. This way they can continue to medicate for profit. It's a shame, really
You're only psychotic once you have exceeded the 10 psychosis level, which everyone has. Not one is excused: Everything is sore, I have a cold of immense proportions, Oh my back, My foot, My finger, Head-ache, Neck pain, Stress, Diarrhoea, Constipation (That's just and example, it get's a lot worse). Human nature, the way we don't want to know!!!
Yep, JJ. In "physical" Western medicine, things are complicated enough, but at least with some things, results of various treatments are often of help. The human mind, even at basic levels, let alone those of consciousness and self awareness, is much more complicated than complaints purely (mostly) physical. It's all certainly worthy of formal study, but perhaps more than any other branch of medicine, requires extreme humility when treatments are suggested, as my blog shows.
Nobody want to talk about it, or not at all explain why, the Indonesian Baduy People have no crazy houses, no jails and very low over all sickness rates and family life so peaceful, that you can be there for one week and you don't hear any fight, no children crying, not even arguments......
It looks like Western people are so happy with their so at say civilisation, that has create the life we Westerners now face......when I told a Lady about how the Baduy People are living, she told me, that for her it is important, that she has running water in her house.....so she did not care, even if everything else is a mess.

These Paduy People have create from nature, their own natural remedes, that have no side effects at all......it is forbidden to bring anything with any chemicals into their place.....same with electronic, electricity and anything for transport, that use gasoline.....and are vegetarians.

When 90% of all medicines have side effects and some are even very bad.....I can not say anything else, than it is out of any reality.....all is about making money.

The very same is with the food we buy from supermarkets, they are full of Chemicals and artificial colors or sweeteners......just wait for 20-30 years and we are going to see all the affection of itdoh
Well, B, it is a problem. As I just said, their challenge to understand and treat mental problems makes it tough for psychiatrists. And they can help some folks. in limited fashions. But except perhaps for the most severely afflicted, many alternative exist, and often work reasonably well, in the hands of talented and caring practitioners.
I just want to let you know that when the doctor of oriental medicine gets really sick they visit the doctor of western medicine. No cynicism intended. It is your choice.
Yep, all, western medicine has its place. But often gentler and more effective remedies work.
Yep, Biff. Then there is the clued caring confidant. Rarely a hairdresser of friendship, those.
