When meeting someone for the first time

Is it a good idea to let them watch your stand up comedy? I am thinking it can be a good or not good thing.

How about that being the 2nd date instead?
What kind of comedy do you mean? confused
my own stand up, I told this guy who has been asking to meet me that i have one i am doing. Now he has asked to come to it. I am not so sure it is the best way to meet though
It's surely no worse than having someone read their blogs first.
I don't know about that Miguel??uh oh
Leave it for a 2nd or third date.
I would wait and get to know each other firstthumbs up good luck.
Marlin,

It could work out. Why don't you write something funny about the guy ?laugh
maybe i'll end up lucky and he will chicken out of meeting me.
I met a woman online who was an amateur singer and invited me to see her in a Broadway style show that she did for a community event. She was commanding and very entertaining to see. Impressed that I showed up, she was too busy to greet me after the performance. I later invited her to dinner and it was her call which restaurant.
Off stage she was meek and totally different than the woman onstage.
Oddly, I found out she lived 2 blocks from me and we shopped at the same grocery store but we didn't recognized each other. As far as the date, I didn't have any interest in her and never asked her out again.
A few years later I saw her photo in a local newspaper, she was engaged to be married.

My opinion is to do the date as normal. Should it work out, then suggest the stand-up.
Nit for the first date. banana
I really do not know what to do, if i tell him no, it could hurt his feelings. If he sees how obsessed i am with Finland and Norway it could do the same :) I guess i will have to just see if he shows up, darn dating is harder than doing stand up. I have not been on a date in 12 years.
I think he must be a nice guy if he is interested in watching you do what you like. Quite pleasant that he shows interest.
Have a great time , I hope he finds you funny and enjoys the show.
thank you all, i guess I will just have to see how it goes.
I have been giving this some thought. If the dude expresses sincere interest in what you're passionate about, go for it. If he laughs, he gets you and if he doesnt, you'll be spared a bunch of wasted time and energy.
I wasn't aware being a stand up comic was your profession thumbs up
soooo its your job then?
The way I'm inclined to view it is, would you bring a man to work with you for/on a date?
That being said, I know its kind of different .. do whats comfortable for you and g'luck with the date wine
Marli, I made that comment without reading you replies to other members doh

Be kind to yourself by doing yourself a favour and date elsewhere.
Marlin,
just go for it......if it is meant to happen, it is going to work......if he don't accept you in what you are doing or who you are in the beginning.....he is not going to accept it later either......just be naturally your self, it is for sure the best waywave
doing stand up is not my job, I have a job. It is a goal of mine though. so it is a big part of my life.
Right you are then Marli and g'luck with in the near future thumbs up
and the date also what ever you decide.
"Why Not Put More Of Your Shows Up On Here?".....................detective
Yes Nam, I think she should do thatthumbs up
Marlin,

obsessed with Finland.........I'm a Finn, with a double passport.....have still 6 ha of land there, inherited from my parents.......do you have some blood connections there???

My two Sons live in Canada.....one of them with the Inuits and he has 3 passports....Finland, Antigua and Canada.
Mar

If you are comfortable with him in the audience...go for it...otherwise it could affect your performance...just a thought...wine

Best of luck Canuck...lol...laugh
I just really like the Finnish language and music, and the people seem loyal and polite
