Sleepless in London
It is now 4.45,am,and I am wide awake,and up since 3.30.I don't believe I was ever a good sleeper,but,it is getting worse.
I'm sure shift work,over a number of years,at different times of my life,play a part.
Still,being reasonably healthy,retired,and not a prisoner of the clock,makes it bearable.
Living alone,I wonder if a partner would relax me more,and help me sleep?
This is the longest time I have been on my own,for many years.
In some ways,it's nice.
Doing my own thing,without offending,or finding things being changed,and not knowing where they are.
Still,man or woman,were not meant to be single.
Even Roman Catholic Priests were allowed to marry,at one time,until a stupid,jealous Pope,forbade it!
How much safer and better world today,especially for children,if that buffoon,had sense!

Alternatively, I do myself some Reiki and that puts me right back to sleep. If you can´t do Reiki, then you can meditate, which is also effective in order to relax the mind... and body.
As for having a partner to relax you, well... it would probably give you more stress!

Start to wind down a few hours before sleep.
For some, a warm shower/bath makes them sleepy. For others [like me] it does the reverse.
Don't watch T.V. or use Smartphone or any device with blue light for about 2hrs before you hit the Bed.
Don't keep a smartphone beside your bed, or in the Bedroom ~ Get an ordinary small Alarm Clock
Don't drink any stimulating substance for about 3hrs before bed and limit your caffeine intake during the hours you are working. If you can, have a milky drink. Take a serotonin Tablet [not available and banned her] but you can also take a Calcium/magnesium tablet or a small Banana sandwich and warm milk drink.
Read something interesting but not exciting or stimulating.
This is reverse of what Miclee has said but you could always giving both a try.

Lastly, write out things you have to do [say, pay a certain bill and collect something, meet somebody, for the next day.
Have your bloodworks done to make sure you are not lacking in certain nutrients and, if that fails try and attend a meditation course [yes I know,not your thing] but transcendental or mindfulness courses do help alot. Best of luck.
