The world of County Hospitals
The wait times are a little outgrageous. I had an appointment at 9:30, and never got out till noon.I had to get to County Harbor UCLA hospital by 8:30 in order to find a parking space, (they are scarce) and go through security. (a metal detector) and I go off everytime. (Knee Brace)
It takes a couple of months to get an MRI or Ultrasound, and if you have to go to the ER you'll be waiting for 2 to 3 days before you see the ER Doctor. Guess you need to be near death before you can get in rapidly.
Just venting. Yes some of the people working there can be cold hearted and it feels very impersonable, but some of the doctors are thourough, and yet others your just a number on a plastic card, so I have good things and bad things to say.
Guess I can't complain, it's at least low cost, and is very helpful when your not working.

Out here in India, private practice is the rage - you get to pick and choose your doctors and hospitals because you are paying them for services rendered so they better be worth it.
Of course, there are general hospitals which are subsidized for the poor and like everything that comes subsidized - one has to compromise on quality.
