So you want to quit smoking ?
Hi I just watched an Allen Carr DVD "The easy way to stop smoking"No, I'm not a representative. I hate smoking and having been trying to quit for years and I think I've found the answer.
Hence I want to share it and give you just an insight into what you can expect.
Basically, I've known about the majority of what the DVD covers for a while but was missing that key to unlock becoming a non smoker.
As I write this I can tell you that I had my final ciggarette about 15 minutes ago, I binned all the tobacco in the house.
I know I will have cravings but I am ready to embrace them for what they are. I've always believed that if you can last a few days you are half way there. Nicotine is the most addictive and poisonous drug (more so then cocaine, grass, heroine etc).
A little tip: When you do get around to watching it and I highly recommend it.
Watch it at night before you go to sleep, I feel you get a head start then.
Get a couple sheets of paper, one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen. Write the text "STARVE YOUR MONSTER and feel good about it!"
This is just to remind you of your primary goal again in the morning and remember the simple facts.
Good LUCK I'll keep you posted on my progress twice a day for the next couple of days. If you watch it and have any questions email me.

My problem is that I still love that smoke with a cuppa first thing in the morning.
Better make that 6 smokes and 3 cuppas.
I have thought about this also (years of wanting to give up)
Water is the safest, our body is made up of mostly water so changing it frequently is a good idea.
SO ANOTHER UPDATE: I went for a two hour midday walk today and I felt great !
So far so good the cravings havent been as bad as i thought they would be. Im almost convinced this is due to the different mind frame. As we speak I am kind of wanting one, so I guess i just have to tell myself, you made the right decision, i am feeling the craving because im killing the monster and i am a non smoker. ( you almost have to picture the monster dieing which helps you feel positive about the cravings).
Thanks for the comments all.
One more night and day for the worst to be over... then 2 weeks later the body expels most of the toxins and I never look back and recliam my life.
Again, I'm in a rather good mood. Waking up to the "Starve the Monster" A4 sheet isnt as daunting as yesterday, after all i made it through yesterday. Coffee and a nice walk are on the agenda.
I did notice a better mood this morning, I am really excited that I am a non smoker again. Cant wait to reclaim my life bit by bit.
I've given you the name of the DVD, how and when you get it is your business. ;)
Good luck all currently trying to quit.
Thanks again for all comments a further update tonight.
The other thing I did was start running. This helped tremendously for a few different reasons. First, it staved off the weight gain, and second, the deep breathing actually mimics how one breathes when they smoke. Most people think the nicotine is calming them down, but its not, its the way you are breathing. The nicotene actually makes you more on edge. After a while, I started running so much I would get the runners high....which felt good.
Another thing I did was meditate.....this really helped any anxiety and also again, the breathing.....instead of going outside to smoke, meditate.
Never heard of this whole 'monster' concept, but really all that is, is a form of meditation. Wont stay with you for long though unless you believe it on a subconcious level. I would say definetely start meditating. Good luck!!
Zyban is a prescription drug that helps eliviate the urges to smoke. Some combine it with the nicotine patch. I chose not to. You can research Zyban on the internet, there are several articles.
Sure its good to be able to do things like jogging and why not jog but dont think of it as a replacement.
By the way i've been walking for 2hrs everyday just to get some fresh air, some excercise and appreciate being a non smoker.
It is now the third day and I can't say I have felt a need to have a cigarette, its simply I have really made a good decision to stop smoking and Im not depriving myslef of anything by doing so.
If you dont believe me look at the type of posts I make and the type of person I am. I wouldnt be recommending this if I didnt think it could help 'you'.
Sounds like you replaced your ciggs with walking, buddy! Well yes obviously you have to want to quit above all else, but ultimately you have to reprogram the behavior, is all I was saying.
