Emotions and instincts

If you were struck in a situation where you had to choose between a seven months old baby or infant getting his head blown off or a healthy robust walter of 31 years old.how do you distinguish between emotion and instinct.

emotions is a state of human mind,it suppress reasoning of the mind,instincts is an inborn drive.

That's true Walter...while emotions can suppress the mind, it is important to remember that it has it's plays an important role in our wellbeing IF we place it in the right channels.

For example, we can love all types of people but being "in love", we need to give our heart to the right person who is compatible to us, or else the relationship will break down in the future. very happy

Well....a baby is helpless and unable to care for themselves. So to leave a baby uncared for is not only negligent, but speaks of a capacity to abandon responsibility. An adult can look after themselves but having said that, adults also need love. If it came to a choice between one or the other, then for me, I will choose the child. But if I had a choice to have both...why not have both? very happy

Instinct will cause you to act without thinking of the consequences.
I think what you are saying is that if you had to choose between self-survival or saving the life of a baby then instinct will kick in to the point where one will try your utmost to save the baby(the future).
I normally act first then my emotion kicks in. Instinct before emotion.
