WE WALKED, AMONGST THE DEAD.
Went off yesterday, Good-Friday, with my girl Jen, from Ohio, to visit the ancient, over 800 year ruins of, Athassel Abbey, Golden, in Tipperary, its a crumbling ruin, much in decay, still it holds some of its former splendor, we enjoyed our stroll around, though on occasion, we felt, we were not alone.,,,,note, you can click on the photo's, for full size images.---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----
...built in the 12th century, Athassel was the most impressive achievement of the Augustinians, one of the most extensive monasteries in Ireland, the church is dedicated to St. Edmund, King and Martyr...

standing in the main Chapel, for perspective, the Monastery was built in Cruciform shape, with side chapels, the site is extensive, this being but a small part, built over 4 acres.

hoping Jennifer, whom i met on C.S. doesn't lose the head too, LOL,,,,thank you C.S. for the gift of her, i love her dearly.

we both wished standing here, to hear the ghostly singing of Gregorian chant, by the Augustinian monks, once more, how beautiful that would be.

again standing in for perspective, i cant even imagine, the former grandeur, of this place, now falling, brick, by brick, alas.
