World Happiness Report 2012:

Denmark has taken the top spot on the United Nation's first ever World Happiness Report, followed by Finland, Norway and the Netherlands.

The 158-page report, published by Columbia University's Earth Institute, was commissioned for the United Nations Conference on Happiness on Monday in order to "review the state of happiness in the world today and show how the new science of happiness explains personal and national variations in happiness."

I have a Danish friend and he is very happy with his life. Denmark takes very good care of their people. Last year they were #2 and Finland was #1 and Sweden was #3.

@Honey I read Maylasia was now the MOST expensive place in the world to live which is probably why Malaysians are unhappy.

I see New Zealand gets a ranking of 8th which is ok but I'm not sure how much credence to give this poling. I was working for a Danish company and all the Danes there seem to be clinically depressed and medicated for it! I felt a bit sorry for them. Perhaps they were not a representative sample?

Still at least NZ ranks ahead of Australia....(as it should do!).

CyberAngel, not really miserable but not content with life and want more and more. That's why they are always unhappy.

I think you may be happy in almost any country if you are at one with yourself. It's not easy to reach such a balance though.
