Heels, life and surprises.
Today I wear high heels, brand new. This is something as there are two things in the world that I thought I will never wear, mini skirt and high heels.I was with my kids watching a movie when I got a phone call from my friend for a meeting. The day before she offered me a job to write a biography. I was not ready for that meeting as I wearing a very casual clothes with no make up on. Absolutely nothing, not even a basic powder, eye brow and lip gloss (yes for me these 3 are the basic while some other women will add mascara, blush on and lipstick, which for me is the complete make up!).
So I thought of something to do with my appearance, and I decided to buy high heels. I thought it can do what a lipstick can do to your face. Because what I'm about to meet is my friend and her director.
So I went to the meeting, with those high heels, only to find that the director is someone I have met 17 years ago. I was a managing editor in a magazine and he was volunteering for one of our project. What a funny reunion. Without much talking about the job he gave me the job. And what we talked was the old good days hahaha
Sometimes life has too many surprises, even for a writer like me :)
So now I got a job, and a pair of high heels. How lucky can I be. How I love surprises :)

congrats on the new job and new shoes!
Whose biography will it be? Sorry for my curiosity
lachica, I'm not allowed to say anything until the book is published, Mbak. It will be on August 17th, yes, tight deadline it is. Doakan yah :)
Anyways, good for ya!
Callio, indeed ?
St Elmo, too bad I don’t know how to put picture here ?
St. Elmo, here's the pic. The left: loafer-old shoes. The right: wegdes-new shoes. Sorry, no mini skirt, never had, never wore
Lacicha, makasih banyak, Mbak it means, thanks a lot, Sist :)
A writer's point of view I suppose ... an opportunity for a new job comes unexpectedly ... and preparing for the meeting by buying new shoes!
I wouldn't have thought about shoes... I really wouldn't.
Your story made me smile.
I don't agree regarding stupid/unnecessary ... I think it's important to find things that help us feel good... things that help us succeed. Clothing can do this... I'm glad it worked... it's good to hear about your new project.
Richard, true, we sometimes need to do something to feel good about ourselves. But a good friend of mine reminded me that I succeded for being my self hehehe
Anyway, the project is cancelled, because they said my budget for the project is too big. The thing about dealing with those (advertising) agency is sometimes they refuse to say their budget, then when we say ours, they said "Oh, it's out of our budget" without ever telling how much their budget is.
So I will be in Bali next week, instead of working, for a writing's retreat. It will be a nice break for me after 2 weeks holiday with my kids. I'll have my own holiday now. Ain't life good?
