Any idea ?
I did some searching on this site, and here are some results. In Scandinavia, there are many more male members then female. Why is that ?
What do you think ?

Having lived in Thailand (where gender imbalance is very obvious) and a host of other countries, I consider your numbers pretty accurately reflect the ratios of genders present in society and have formulated the theory that over the surface of the Earth the two genders are not distributed equally.
When you make deliberate observations it certainly appears that the higher latitudes harbour slight bias towards male dominated populations and the reverse for countries closer to the equator.
In Thailand I would have estimated the ratio at more like .75 to .80 just purely from observation in society but your numbers may be more accurate.
Many people ask me about this and if the reasons for it are known. As far as I am aware no research has been done which confirms the numbers or establishes any theories.
It is known that among some species (e.g. crocodiles, alligators) the ratio of gender births is entirely dependent on the temperature that the reptiles eggs are incubated at. Below a certain temperature and all births will be male and vice versa.
Perhaps it is the ambient temperatures found in the tropics which influence human gender births slightly.
That is the best I can offer at this time.
saddestangel7 - well, I suppose the children takes the centerstage. Maybe that isn't the same everywhere ?
Let say, - in a country with poor medical aid, the deaths among children are high. On a psychological level, perhaps you somehow would distance yourself a bit, meaning the children doesn't get the same kind of attention. Childbearing would make women more dependant on a good provider, etc.
I wasn't born a Norwegian, and have never felt like this is where I belong. So, I would not be the right one to answer these questions.
Anyway, it's well known that vikings took a lot of wives from other coasts, - perhaps it is somewhat deep rooted ?
The local dating sites, does cost quite a bit of money. Women don't seem to mind that perhaps, as they may figure that anyone putting up money are more serious about it. Perhaps they also think it is safer. And of course - it may be smarter :) A better chance to meet someone if you are within reach with a bus ticket then an airplane ticket :)
However, my numbers are taken from this site alone. Scandinavia offer benefits which a lot of poor countries may envy, and of course there has been some migration and so on.
In several countries, a decrepancy in age is more tolerated. As gender equality increase, I think there is a higher demand for equality in age as well. In other words, perhaps it would be harder to find a younger wife in your own country, if that is what males would be looking for. On the other hand, women held high positions in Scandinavia, much because of the women liberation movement some decades ago. It went a bit too far, if you ask me. So far that many males felt uncomfortable. I know several that found wifes from Asia, which receive a very different treatment.
There may be many reasons, which hasn't been mentioned. But I was a bit surprised about the figures I found.
