11-year-old girl: Marry me off? I'll kill myself!

This cute little girl just barely managed to escape a forced marriage. What does it say about the humanity of her parents and the culture that forces girls/ women into marriage?

Well I'm very familiar with that.. Not that I'm one of them, but I'm around of those that practice that. mumbling
wave Chame1: . . . .Its just down right sad. About the many things, that happens on this planet.
I suppose you are Misstaken. I'm a mother and I couldn't imagine allowing a daughter of mine to marry against her will. It would kill me. I don't have any daughters but I know it would kill me.
You're right, Angel. Some people wonder why a loving God would allow so much suffering, but I feel differently. I feel that without having God to go home to in the end, those who suffered would have suffered for no reason.
its git wrenching stuff!poor baby! we had a man wanting to marry a girl same age as her,he said he wants to take care of her, she has no family, why not adopt her?doh
Obviously he doesn't want a child. He wants a child bride. mumbling
he was married already, and had 2 wives doh
This young lady is actually very lucky in being able to escape to an uncle who cares about her and intends to allow her to grow up and receive an education. But she speaks for the situation of of other girls in her country and really anywhere that you find muslim extremists.
A "religion" that is so much to the advantage of men and so much to the detriment of women cannot possibly be a good thing. Why should only women be made to suffer so much? What does it do to the souls of women and men who follow such practices?
Chame1 What I meant is I am familiar with that situation because I am in Saudi Arabia, and these people here practice that. They marry off their daughters to the highest bidder. Even if it means the man is centuries older..
Just shows what people value most, no surprise history teaches us nothing-but to repeat it. Angel yes exactly why i dont believe in a god on this planet.sad flower
Something I skimmed off the Net while looking for the study I was quoting as fact rather than opinion (vis. success rate of arranged marriages). I really have to dash but I like to give the source underlining my facts so I made the attempt and came up with a January 2013 article in the New York Times entitled: Modern Lessons From Arranged Marriages.

It is a complex issue. And my first reaction to someone, regardless of age, saying I would rather kill myself or I would have no "life" is the person making such a statement has lived a comfortable life of entitlement. Someone who states they would rather die but then complains about threats against their life just sounds, to me, like a convenient hypocrite without regard for anything but their own sense of entitlement. Not very adult whatever the age of the speaker.

Listening to the statements in the video with a critical mind, I am reminded of justifications for egotistical self-righteousness to me.

Life is what you chose to make it sweetheart. No one can take it away from you. Maybe you'll learn that one day and maybe not. Wisdom tells me that attitude, rather than age, will be a factor in that lesson.
ARREE ARE YOU ACTUALLY CONDONING ARRANGED MARRIAGES
AND YOUR LAST STATEMENT SAYING -- my first reaction to someone, regardless of age, saying I would rather kill myself or I would have no "life" is the person making such a statement has lived a comfortable life of entitlement. Someone who states they would rather die but then complains about threats against their life just sounds, to me, like a convenient hypocrite without regard for anything but their own sense of entitlement. Not very adult whatever the age of the speaker.--
HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT SHE HAS HAD A LIFE OF ENTITLEMENT THE CHILD IS OBVIOUSLY DISTRESSED --ONE SECOND SO YOU UNDERSTAND I WILL REPEAT
--THE CHILD --
ARE YOU FOR REAL
doh doh
Many religion followers that are only a bunch of selfish hypocrites and they use religion as a tool to gain their own benefits. They are only good in spelling passages, but not good in practicing.
aRrAe: "Did you know that arranged marriages have a higher success rate than unarranged marriages?"

Define 'Higher Success rate'? Success rate in your case means marriages that last including the enormous amount of unhappy marriages that men and women were forced to enter to enter, even in our own countries in times past. 50+years ago in Ireland most marriages were successful. But there was a lot of unhappy people aswell. doh
Poor girl! There are really cultures that are so weird. But the way she speaks up seemed scripted. I stand corrected. Thanks for the video, Chame!bouquet
