Soils
All soils derive from volcanic and magmatic rocks and sediments and/or organic matter.In polar regions organic matter can accumulate in thick layers.
In temperate climates most organic stuff usually decays depending on acidity, moisture and vegetation.
And in the tropics all litter is usually decomposed and mineralized very fast because it is always warm or even hot and moist.
The deepest soils from withered rockbeds also occur in the tropics.
