The last few days of the emperor
Remember those hulky-bulky CRT idiot boxes that had a place in most households till a few years ago? Could 2015 be the year of their demise??Analysts think so. In 2013 - four million CRT sets were sold while their anorexic cousins aka LCD TVs registered sales of six million.
Presently - LCDs cost twice as much as CRTs and which ( ie the hard-to-forgive-and-forget price difference ) keeps the show going. The day manufacturers find a way to produce the LCDs at the very same price-point where they churn out CRTs, cathode ray tube television will breathe its last.
To summarize - LCDs are preferred now-a-days because they are more power efficient and offers a plethora of screen real estate.
