“Guaranteed Resurrection”

On Sunday, Christians all over the world will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for the remission (forgiveness) of our sins, He was buried, and was raised from the dead by the power of God.
Easter translated means Passover. Easter (Passover) is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox, the date of Easter is between March 22 and April 23.

This Sunday School lesson is for your spiritual edification.

A Commentary On The International Sunday School Lesson for Sunday April 5, 2015

“Guaranteed Resurrection”

Scripture Text: I Corinthians 15:Verses 1-11; 20-22
Time of the Action: 55 A.D.
Place of the Action: Paul writes to the church at Corinth from Ephesus

Golden Text: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (I Corinthians 15:22).

I. INTRODUCTION.
In this week’s lesson, Paul explained the meaning of Christ’s resurrection to the Corinthian believers. He stressed that the glorious future resurrection of Christians is guaranteed by Christ’s resurrection. This Easter morning, as we study this lesson we have the opportunity to glory in the understanding and blessings of Christ’s resurrection.

II. BACKGROUND FOR THE LESSON.As Greeks, the people of Corinth were most likely influenced by Greek philosophers, who scoffed, or made fun of the very idea of a resurrection (see Acts 17:32). While it is unlikely that the Corinthian believers doubted the resurrection of Christ, it was apparent from I Corinthians 15:12 that they had doubts concerning the future resurrection of Christians. This prompted Paul to write fully about the resurrection in I Corinthians chapter 15.

III. THE GOSPEL AND CHRIST’S RESURRECTION (I Corinthians 15:1-4)

A. The gospel and salvation (I Corinthians 15:1-2).
1. (Verse. 1).
In our first verse Paul says “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand.” The word “Moreover” indicates a change from what Paul wrote in chapter 14 to what he was about to write now. Of course he called the Corinthian believers “brethren” because they were all members of the same family, the church of God (see I Corinthians 1:2). He went on to say “I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you.” Paul was about to remind the Corinthian believers of the gospel that he had preached to them on his second missionary journey (see Acts 18:1, 4). The word “gospel” means good news. Paul told them that the gospel he preached “ye have received, and wherein ye stand.” In other words, by faith they had accepted the message of the gospel, which included the resurrection. However, false teaching had entered in saying that there was no resurrection for Christians who had died, even though they accepted Christ’s resurrection (see I Corinthians 15:12). With the words “wherein ye stand,” Paul affirmed their faith as they stood firmly in that same gospel he preached.

Sista - May I suggest researching a man called Arius and his concept of Arianism and the surviving texts of discussions (lol, fierce debates and trials) about early Christian beliefs and their reshapings into the Catholic Church under the Roman Emperor Constantine's rule?

Good reply Theresa. Good concept blog Sista for the many (3 I think) here who haven't yet heard of Easter or the Feast of Oister.

You silly woman, for spending so much time cutting and pasting a fairy story. Get a life.
Just goes to show this whole thing is something Steven Speilberg made up...people disagreeing on what is what..in fighting amongst the believers...nothing else better to do..

Funny how none of the god squad wanted to comment on CH blog about the poor children around the world..no lets just gloss over that shall we.

doh
Truth doesn't like to rest well with anyone who loves traditions ahead of The Lord. Many friends and family can and will literally disown people who choose to on,y follow The Lords living examples. In fact, there is NO written testimony even for the early disciples that we should celebrate easter...yet were were told not to.
Where are your recourses Sista that The Lord of Lords explicitly told us to celebrate Him in the manner.
The first 4 commandments actually speak against our holidays that Constantinople have justified for us. These holidays of the fests do the queen of heaven. They are not the feasts of the Lord and Savior...,The Master/The HaShem, in the name of Yehoshua.

Theresa, be fair to Constantine. He had to unite a huge disparate and very diverse land mass. His new organization formed from the remnants of older ones had to find something in common they could share that all of the populace would accept. The co-opting of known feast days and symbols (such as the cross of Mithra) was a method that proved enormously successful. If the only reason a person showed up at the church/temple was to participate in the feast and the celebration, it still counted and provided a potential convert (intelligence resource and tax contributor).

BTW, as you know, we disagree about the name. I believe it was Yuzasaf (aka in the 20 and 21st century Yuz Asaf) also known as Issa. Full recognition of the theological implication for the core beliefs of some here if I am correct.
Ken, thank you for your comment and suggestion, I already know about him and his teachings and doctrine, which are not the same as my beliefs, learnings, and teachings. I believe in whom I believe and His name is God the Father, God the Son who is Jesus the Christ, the Only Begotten Son of the Living God, and God the Holy Spirit the power of the Most High God, that's enough for me. From my learnings and understandings this man did not have such beliefs, in many things concerning the Lord.

BTW, what does Arianism to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Sunday School Lesson posted in this blog?confused

HAPPY RESURRECTION (EASTER)SUNDAY TO YOU!teddybear
Theresa, yes, I do know what Jesus and God are called in the original Hebrew and Greek, and what we as Christian call Him in English, since we are not either Hebrew or Greek, I rather call God and Jesus by the names that we who are English speaking know Him by, and no matter what name we call Him, He still responds and answers our call.

Remember, if you or others don't celebrate Easter (Resurrection) Sunday, that's everyone right... but as Scripture teaches you should not try to forbid others or judge others for celebrating a holy day they have set aside to honor or observe unto God, Jesus's death and resurrection took care of obeying the law, this is why we are free in Him and have spiritual choices... (Read Romans chapter 14; and Colossians chapter 2, just to name a few. And of course, Jesus would never celebrate His own resurrection..lol

I am now understanding what you speak, but what does all of this to do with the Sunday School lesson of the blog? confused... God knows His name, and I know His name and I respect and reverence His Holy name no matter in the Greek, Hebrew, Spanish, French or English. And I doubt very seriously, if God cares about the language in which we call His name by, in any language He is still GOD whether in the Hebrew, Greek, Spanish, or English or any other language, just as long as we call upon the name of God who is the Most high God of Israel!

I have spent almost 6 yrs in seminary studying God's word, so I do know and understand much about the biblical history of the Bible, but knowing God and studying His word is to know God on a personal level and this is context and content of why Paul exhorts us to study to show ourselves approved by GOD as workmen, not being ashamed who rightly dividing the Word of God's Truth, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to what is written and revealed to us about God in the bible... not what man has written outside of God's Word. Studying to show ourselves approved by God is about coming into a knowledge of who God is and understanding His Word in order to teach and preach His Gospel to the lost and strengthen Christian believers in the faith, not only for our own sake, but that for the sake of the hearers as not to mislead as false teachers of God's Gospel of truth.

As I asked of you, where do you get your information? Did it come from you reading man's writings or by revelation to you through the Holy Spirit?... and how do you know what you are reading is of a truth and by what means do you measure it as being truth?... can this information be found in the Bible or is it only found by other writers who are also men writing what they perceive to be truth?... just asking... because I find it rather difficult to separate as suggested what is claimed to be man's writing of the Bible from what you have read of man's writings as truth of the information you give from over the internet.

BTW, questions, in light of what you have presented (thanks for the information), but what has all this information to do with the topic of the blog, Our “Guaranteed Resurrection” as Christian believers? That's what the Scripture is teaching... SO, Do you believe we too, will be raised from the death when Jesus returns and live eternally with the Lord?

Let's focus and stay on track in the lesson... Do you find the information correct or incorrect that I present regarding Jesus' resurrection and why He rose from the dead, and that Christians will also will have resurrection in the day of the Lord as according to the Apostle Paul's writing and your beliefs?

Love ya girl, and thanks
teddybear
Arinism goes right to the heart of incarnated versus the later resurrection. Noting also the forbidden tale in which he journeyed to Khartoum.

Noting further, divine revelation is only possible when it happens in the fashion described by Moses. That which occurs while awake is not divine nor is it from He who has no name.

Ian, sweetheart makes for a great movie doesn't it?...rolling on the floor laughing.. uh,sorry but I think there have been many writers, producers, and producers who have made Christ's resurrection into movies and television movies... maybe you missed them. laugh

Why would it be necessary for anyone who is a believer to make comments on the blog about poor children around the world? :confused... most all Christians are already feeding and clothing the poor children around the world... so why do you falsely judge and make false statements you know not? Christians already know the situation, but the question remains, what do you have to give beside making a blog about the children being poor around the world, have you given?...

Poor children around the world, this is not news to Christians, may be for you, but not for us... and how much have you given to make changes on a daily bases, weekly, monthly?.. besides run your mouth with talk and a blog?... giving once is not enough unless it is to cover a years supply of food confused

Please know everyone that I have tried to delete all the duplicate comments, but for some reason or another, I have not been able to do so... I will contact CS staff upon my return from Bible Study and prayers. teddybear teddybear teddybear

That last passage I quoted from was Philippians 2:6-11. At the name of Jesus every knee will bow and acknowledge His Lordship. God bless!
Hi Serendiwave, love your words.. you're so on the mark once again. Thank you for your comments.

I wished I could have had a copy this article tonight at my Sunday school lesson class, laugh
This is a beautiful article giving answers regarding Easter Resurrection Sunday.. I love this site because it has many answers and much to offer those who go in search of the truth.

The origins of Easter are rooted in European traditions. The name Easter comes from a pagan figure called Eastre (or Eostre) who was celebrated as the goddess of spring by the Saxons of Northern Europe. A festival called Eastre was held during the spring equinox by these people to honor her. The goddess Eastre’s earthly symbol was the rabbit, which was also known as a symbol of fertility. Originally, there were some very pagan (and sometimes utterly evil) practices that went along with the celebration. Today, Easter is almost a completely commercialized holiday, with all the focus on Easter eggs and the Easter bunny being remnants of the goddess worship.

In the Christian faith, Easter has come to mean the celebration of the resurrection of Christ three days after His crucifixion. It is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year because of the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the events upon which Christianity is based. Easter Sunday is preceded by the season of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and repentance culminating in Holy Week and followed by a 50-day Easter season that stretches from Easter to Pentecost.

Because of the commercialization and pagan origins of Easter, many churches prefer to refer to it as “Resurrection Sunday.” The rationale is the more we focus on Christ and the less we focus on the pagan holiday, the better. As previously mentioned, the resurrection of Christ is the central theme of Christianity. Paul says that without this, our faith is futile (1 Corinthians 15:17). What more wonderful reason could we have to celebrate! What is important is the true reason behind our celebration, which is that Christ was resurrected from the dead, making it possible for us to have eternal life (Romans 6:4)!

Should we celebrate Easter or allow our children to go on Easter eggs hunts? This is a question both parents and church leaders struggle with. There is nothing essentially evil about painting and hiding eggs and having children search for them. What is important is our focus. If our focus is on Christ and not the eggs, our children will understand that the eggs are just a game. Children can participate in an Easter egg hunt as long as the true meaning of the day is explained and emphasized, but ultimately this must be left up to the discretion of parents.

Callie..its not what people are doing for them, my question is if god is good..why allow them to suffer in the first place, allow dictators and tyrants to persecute them...evil in my eyes.

WOW! Love Your words ...! Only a quote (though very briefly) that you have raised, which is enough to cover all the things that need to be said:

Philippians 2:6-11. "At the name of Jesus every knee will bow and acknowledge His Lordship"

Thank you so much for your sharing, clever Serendipity!
