Public servants in Japan

Last month, there was a local election. For days, vehicles with large speakers roam around to ask the public to vote for so and so candidate. Some candidates go to the train stations haranguing passers bye with their platform, or just greeting the public. I took notice of one of the candidates since he was the very first to be seen there even for days it was raining and quite cold. He would greet each one while extending one hand with his flyer. On one morning like that, I noticed that nobody wanted to take his flyer, so when I was about to pass him, I took his flyer. There was no meaning indeed since Iam a foreigner and not allowed to vote. And even Iam allowed, still I can't since I live in a different city. Since then I just thought he ought to win for his patience and determination. So when I saw him, the following day right after election, I know he won. One thing I like in Japan very much. The results of election is known in a matter of hrs and the elected ones go out and thank the voters. Very nice system! Unlike in my home country where both local and national election results may take months.doh I saw him again this morning on my way home. He's quite a looker too!

Oh no no no no.... never ever compare the elections of our country from the others... Or it might slap your face the truth having the worst and awful elections in our government...doh

That is one of the major problem in Phils i can say.. In my mom's province.. in 2weeks before the voting day... candidate parties will count the voters in each family in their area and spread an envelope which is sealed with the same amount of money(per head) inside for each member who was registered to vote... means vote buying... lolscold

Nowadays people became wiser. .. no matter how big the amount of money the opponent were given them they still wisely chose the best candidate for them... Anyways every parties doesn't have idea who will be Voted by their citizens... grin
@dery, you deeerty minded harry!
@shell one, loooong time no blog! Where have you been? I thought you're "double" now! Me, I'm still waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting!rolling on the floor laughing On the serious side, I vehemently agree with you. Politics in the Phils just like the previous commenter is so deeeerty! Vote buying is the norm. But there are horrendous news every election esp ones from the provinces. Like the one in Maguindanao where tens of people were massacred at one instance including the candidate, media people who are covering him and his supporters. I wonder what happen to the case. Again nice for popping in!bouquetAnd to the rest who viewed, thanks!bouquet
