Nietsche thought that any application of moral philosophy to practical matters merely set intellectual bullies up to dominate others, thereby rejecting the thinking of the Greek trio ( Aristotle, Socrates and Plato). Is a 12 year old leukemia patient, whose lesion is 90% treatable with chemotherapy, able to reject modern treatment, because "my hair will fall out"? In cases of congenital intersex biology, should parents and doctors be allowed to surgically "assign" sex to female gender, as has been the tradition, thereby removing choice in later years? If an anesthetised patient experiences breakthrough pain during surgery, should drugs be administered to block memories of the pain? Can philosophy help or should philosophers remain in their ivory towers? Why do brown cows eat green grass and give white milk? Indeed. Aa.
