Fire is an element that cleanse the earth, water is an element that puts up the fire and irrigates the land, the land grows a variety of plants, wind dries the plants, and causes fires...
It's a repetitive cycle in nature.

First painting - fire:

In all ancient cultures fire was a basic element. It wasn't only a source of light, but also it gave warmth and a protection from dangerous predators, it also gave an opportunity to cook meet, and other goods, so they would be more tasty and nutritious and last longer.
Fire was placed in the center of ancient dwellings, it was also the center of social life, the important decisions were discussed by the fire.

Second painting - water:

Water was also important in ancient culture, so it's not a coincidence that all cities, towns and villages, all the settlements are situated near the rivers.
After all - human can survive about 40 days without food, but without fresh water, even a week wouldn't be possible.
It is not a secret that the main component of an each life form of an living organism is water. With out it the life on earth would be impossible.

Third painting - earth:

In ancient world, where the agriculture was the base, it was necessary to understand the cycles between moon phases. People use to sow the seed in the ground, graft trees even fish, by directly looking at the phases of moon.
Sun was also important, at least its quantity. Because in the Baltic region where the temperature differences are so obvious between winter and summer.
Now, why the cross?
Because there was no modern plows made of metal with the measured right land conversion angle, only with primitive wooden plows - it was difficult to cultivate the ground - people had to: plow the ground lengthwise, then transversely. And then put the seed to the ground.

Fourth painting - find:

The wind could be warm or cold, dry or wet.
In ancient world there was no meteorological stations, no synoptics that could tell the weather, the only tool was a wind vane that people use to put on top of then dwelling.
In the Baltic ancient art, a common symbol was a rooster reporting the direction of the wind...

Cute Story

In Australia a man practices using chalk on a bridge wall to see how well chalk
would adhere to concrete for a project he was hired for.
He liked the finished temporary project and just left it up for the weekend
so others could enjoy it, with plans to wash it off on Monday.
Things didn't quite work out, as originally planned.
Take a look;

30 yo Air Force 1 Is To Be Replaced. The Don Claims The 60 yo Look Of Air Force 1 Also Needs An Update. ...

The current paint scheme ("Livery" when speaking of aircraft) has been used since the Kennedys selected it for the 1st Air Force 1.
The current AF-1 Livery is referred to as "Jackie's Plane" or "Jackie Blue".

The Don apparently dislikes the pastel blue & has proposed more bold colors.

Palace in ruin...

A woman came to the showroom this week asking if we could provide replacement cabinets for her house that was damaged by a water leak. My answer was yes and scheduled an appointment to measure to see what is needed.
She's an older woman with a very outgoing personality. Her taste is contemporary and she selected our display with gloss white cabinets... because everything in her house is white. Retired years ago, she told me she was in the design business and hand-crafted floral arrangements that included faux palm trees.

I made it to my appointment today and found a disaster in the making. All the furniture was gone, most of the walls were cut from 3 feet and below the drywall was stripped off the studs. Anything that was exposed to mold/mildew had been painted with a white sealer, probably something with the ability to stop the growth of mold.

The place appeared to have been decorated like the lobby of a casino. Mirrored walls, sculptured glass ornaments, artsy-fartsy murals, drapes and huge vases of palm trees. Forced to live in an extended-stay hotel, no one was allowed to be living at the house.
The drying fans had been removed and she was waiting for the drywall crew to return to close the walls so they can continue the restoration process. I measured what was in my scope. Looking around I see her house is on a lake and the back yard was complete with statues and artwork. Probably a place for parties, the barbecue had a canopy and the covered bar area had lounge chairs and outdoor furniture. Certainly a palace for this woman... complete with a hand-painted ceiling of blue sky and clouds!

It appeared the water seeped under some floor tiles and that would be a huge issue to re-tile the entire floor. She's in the stage of negotiating with the insurance company and working with a public adjuster. Something like that could hold up the project for weeks. Hopefully her insurance coverage is sufficient to get her back into her home. From experience, unless she wants to pull from her pocket, many of the custom design pieces will only be a memory.

Her once upon a time palace is in ruin...

Diptych: "Mind And Soul" (Second part)

Embedded image from another site

The teacher told me to do the second art work for the same theme.
Near the local hospital there is a statue of a man with raised arms. It inspired to me to create the second part of a diptych "Mind And Soul".
Some of the buildings I draw by looking at the cover box of plastic coated playing cards. Some I've draw from my imagination. The mountain's from a computer game we use to play with the friend on "Sega" platform.

At the end of the exam I got estimate of 100 percent.
Of course there was a theory part, but I have also get an estimate of 100 percent.

It was 20 years before.

How to make hundreds of thousands of dollars easy

Go to the nearest fruit stand and buy a bunch of bananas.
Then go to a hardware store and buy a roll of duct tape.
Then go to your nearest snooty art gallery and
tape a banana to the wall with the duct tape.
Apparently, you just created art. dunno very expensive art.

Several of them sold in Miami for over $120,000 each. rolling on the floor laughing

Seriously. I'm not kidding. The world has gone bananas. crazy

And to think, you've been working your whole life. doh laugh

Time for a cultural interlude

I wandered lonely on a bleak high hill,
but not as lonely as a Lakeland cloud.
Nor did I see a single daffodil,
despite my reading Wordsworth out aloud.
