So its 2:00am in the morning and its time to get ready for Dawn parade, who else is going to dawn sevice?

In remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget."

In Australia I think most people realise that killing people is something you want probably even less than the pox, but in so many places such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Lebanon, North Korea and much of West Africa killing seems to be an Olympic sport. Can't they work out that if you kill a bloke, all his friends and relos are going to come gunning for you, and if they get you it all starts over?

Thanks mate, was going to do a thread asking who had been to the march. I only march the later one myself, getting too old to get up that early, has nothing to do with the fact that last time I did the dawn service, i got so p issed on the rum that i nearly missed the main march lol.

i'm a radical left-wing sort of thinker. i have no respect for organisations such as the RSL and the ADF. these organisations are full of pro-American conservative right-wing religious warmongers who idiotically worship a bloodstained Aussie rag. occasions like today mean nothing to me. the people who celebrate such occasions don't speak for me.

I don't agree with war.. I don't agree with violence or taking another life ... however that does not change the fact that certain individuals think they have a right to force their beliefs or way of life onto others using force and might without a care for human life.. therefore.. unfortunately war seems to be a necessary evil to help keep our freedom and way of life

I cry whenever I hear the stories those poor old diggers retell.. the horrors they witness and experienced .. the friends they lost .. the emotional and physical scars they still have .. crying

and then there are those poor service men and women who lost their lives to protect their kin and country .. for us.. so we could enjoy the life and freedom we do now .. and their families who sacrificed so much when they waved them goodbye crying heartbreaking just thinking about it... not knowing if you will ever see your sons (yes some of whom were still children!!), your husbands, uncles, fathers, friends, lovers .. this list goes on

to those innocent civilians who lost their lives getting caught up ravages of war ...

to the opposition who also lost decent men and women for the love of their own countries and beliefs

bad kudos very mad to anyone who does not at least pay tribute and homage to these wonderful people who sacrificed so much for us

no one thinks war is something to be celebrated.. it is the lives lost and damaged and sacrificed we pay respect to on ANZAC day

australia australia australia lest we forget
