Tonight while sitting by the camp fire with my dog. I got to thinking about the campfires of my past. The fire felt warm against my legs as some dark clouds came over head, I am inside the house now because it is raining. That reminded me of the time we got hit in bad storm in Colorado, while tenting on the praire. I got up the next moring the tent blown most of the way down. I crawled out and there were about 30 buffalo grazing about 50ft frome the tent... It is that time of year, anyone like to camp out? Bring a Tent....and a sleeping bad...

One of my favorite things about competing in rodeo were the campfires every night (okay, and the rodeo dances).

I'll put on the camp coffee and get the marshmallows...

This is the tent I slept in on my last camping trip. We spent a couple of days at one of the pow-wows. Had coolers full of food and bottles of water and a fan. Enjoyed good conversation when there were breaks from dancing. Of course mooneyes was a great attraction for kids. They were all very interested in how he became blind. hug

I love a good campfire, but only if I get to go home to my comfy bed after. Sorry, no tents for this girl. Closest I get to this is an RV or a cabin. My preference is a hotel room or best yet, my own room.

Sorry, spent my life on the road in RVs and hotels growing up...or at least, my summers. I love to travel, but love coming home.

And my first tent experience was bivouac in boot camp in the summer. It didn't endear me to camping. laugh

I love camping. I live in a beautiful state to do alot of camping and backpacking. I'm not so much into camping at a designated camp sight. I would much rather put what I need in my backpack and hike out several miles out into the wilderness. Camping out in the wild by yourself is a rush. To feel the solitude and to feel the adrenaline rush of pure solitude is something that I can recommend highly. I lived 6 years in Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park here in Utah. Being in such a remote place in the US and watching the stars and the Milkyway is really a sublime experience. I would say one of my best experiences in the wild was Kayaking the Escalante River. It took me 6 days to go 110 miles all the way into Lake Powell. The Escalante River was the last major river to be disovered in the lower 48 by white men.

The great outdoors is really something that I will always treasure and always will. Hiking and exploring places and to have a sense of discovery of what is around the corner is something that I will do till the day I die.

Seeing wildlife in it's enviroment and watching and listening to the tree's the wind and wildlife is an exzilerating experience. Its always a good thing to leave the comfort of your own home and set out on an adventure. It always recharges my batteries!!cheers

I think you would have a great time. It would be an adventure for you. Really life is an adventure and to step out of your element and try something new.... Is'nt that what life is all about to learn and experience different things. I would have to think it would be a life building experience for you. How would it be to not have a hair dryer and putting on make up for 3 or 4 days and enjoy nature and feel its awesome beauty. It makes me feel alive!!dancing

The bob white are calling, the sun in coming up. The Coffee is perking as coals from the fire are still burning you stir the fire as it flames up to the new wood. There is a time in the morning when the world seem right...You look into the water the fish on the stringer move slowly back and forth. You stretch and smile, thoughts of last nights camp fire are still flickering in your head. The dew is lifting to the sun. A swirl takes shape in the water, you look thinking, it may be that bass but you see the head of a turtle poke up for a look at the new day. You pour your coffee and try to not break the silents of the morning, as your dog stretches from his curled position head bowed tail in the air you day has begun....

I love camping, and hanging out in the woods. I do it every chance I get, lately. It is rough in the winter, but I still like all that cold weather, and outdoor madness, as my sisters call it. I tell them it is quite the opposite...Quiet.

I haven't been camping in a long time, but I just went to a campfire last night. My brother has a pop-up camper that he leaves up in his back yard all summer. He has a fire pit and cookouts every weekend. He & his wife sleep in the camper. He figures he has it and can leave it idle until their 2 week camping trip or use it all summer long. He chooses to use it and there is nothing like the smell of the fire, good cooking, and conversation with family & friends. My brother and I usually end up staying out until the fire is done, looking at the stars and just sitting quietly and thinking. It truly is an amazing time.
