Some friends of mine are babysitting their son’s dog. It seems his new girlfriend does not care for Tralfaz and she has declared if she is around the dog is not to be there too.

Now I’m a dog person that was with a dog person for ten years. Neither of us would have tolerated such attitude towards our furry children.

Where do the rest of you stand? Does kitty disappear when the lover gets snitty or does the pigmy goat sink the animal indifferent dream boat?

America’s dogs and cats want to know.

my last boyfriend kept talking about moving in with me, and kept telling me what i was going to do with my dogs. The dogs won.

My brother adores his pitbull, but his girlfriend wasn't taken with it. She gave him the ultimatum; "It's me or the dog!" My brother says; "well, there's the door, I think you better leave!"

It depends on who was living with me first... If I owned a dog then anywoman will either have to accept the dog or look for someone else... If the woman was there first, then if she didn't like or was allergic to dogs, then I would probably not get one... but I wouldn't throw the dog out to appease anyone... with the acception of my daughter, if she was allergic, then the dog would be given to a good home..JMOcheers

I should be more worried about the dog finding a woman and them deciding to throw me out. He’s quite the charmer.

Two of my cousins came out with their wives and it was very funny to watch them trying not to be jealous as the women fussed over the dog and ignored their husbands

Depends on the level of relationship. For a date, no I wouldn't give up the animal. If it was a serious relationship with long term potential, the dog/cat would go.

My ex husband was allergic to cats and dogs, so as a matter of respect and for his health, I never got either.

Well... your girlfriend is your girlfriend, and your animals are your animals... they are both part of your life... there has to be compromise and equal opportunity! I wouldn't give up my dog or cat or fish or... but if she needed space maybe due to allergies or maybe they scare her, then I would try to make some kind of effort to work something out. Gotta respect each other. But getting rid of my dog... don't even ask that! handshake

seriously, if it were for health reasons, and i really thought there was a future, i would make some compromise, but, i would never get rid of my dogs because someone didn't like them. I would sooner at that point get rid of the O.P You don't get animals and get rid of them anymore than you would get rid of your kids etc. J.M.O
