Not even a question, my dogs are way more loyal than anyone I've ever known. They don't care if I'm rich, poor, fat, old, ugly, pretty whatever. They don't care what mistakes I've made, what my secrets are they just love me unconditionally and people definitely don't tend to love unconditionally, it's a meaningless phrase for most people. So you don't like my dogs then its no problem, there's the door. I fiercely love them and don't plan on changing for anyone!
bestat45: seriously, if it were for health reasons, and i really thought there was a future, i would make some compromise, but, i would never get rid of my dogs because someone didn't like them. I would sooner at that point get rid of the O.P You don't get animals and get rid of them anymore than you would get rid of your kids etc. J.M.O
I think you missed my point. I think the boy is out of his tree to put his dog aside for this woman. I'm waiting to see what the next orders will be she has for him.
My wife came with her own mini-zoo I guess I was the last stray she brought home. Her animals and my animals became our family. Neither of us would have had it different than that.

I didn't miss your point at all. The comment you quoted was in response, however, there a few prior that hold the same opinion you are stating. Animals are definately a part of the family, and no they should not be put aside for others.
Well, is sort of like when you start dating after a divorce, where children are involved. I wouldn't lie to a potential significant other telling him that the kids are not a problem and that custody is shared. Children are always an issue.
I wouldn't get rid of my cat or my dog the same way I wouldn't get rid of any of my kids, that's preposterous!
But I wouldn't want to impose either, is freedom of choice. But even if the person accepts the pets in your life, if he/she is not really a pet person, eventually it will become an issue, a deal breaker.
BrunoMcMahon: Some friends of mine are babysitting their son’s dog. It seems his new girlfriend does not care for Tralfaz and she has declared if she is around the dog is not to be there too.
Now I’m a dog person that was with a dog person for ten years. Neither of us would have tolerated such attitude towards our furry children.
Where do the rest of you stand? Does kitty disappear when the lover gets snitty or does the pigmy goat sink the animal indifferent dream boat?

USThumper: Love me, love my critters. All 30 or 40 of them.
I had a black labrador golden retriever mixed. and I made it plain to one person that it was Bailey's house before he was my boyfriend. So he dealt with it... sort of. I ended up here.

I have had my little dog for over 11 years. She goes almost everywhere I go, even to work with me. She is a big part of my life. I will give her up for no one. She sleeps at the end of the bed. He will accept that or he can forget about a relationship with me. Any complaints towards her...

Youve got to remember, I live on a farm. All kinds of critters.

bestat45: i actually have to agree, if a person is going to start making demands about your pets, it could be anything else as well. No point in making yourself miserable by allowing it. Definately a different story if a new pet is being brought into the house. Then it becomes a two sided option.
I told him from the getgo that it was a package deal. He accepted.

Misty and Dusty are part of my life. I've had them for over 10 years and would never ever separate myself from them. They are my children, my companions, my best friends, and depend on me. It would be cruel to have them not with me.
