Because there a loads of "members " who come to talk "at you " or to "talk about themselves " They (some) are not interested in getting to know you, no the new buzz about the place (CS being the place) IS : do you agree with me ? Do you love me? Are you totaly riveted by me ?

I think the reason people don't chat much via email and IM is that it's so time consuming, well that's my reason anyway I find it easier to pop on forums and sort of catch up with everything and everyone all in one go
The chat room is okay except I can't really type fast enough to keep up.. so by the time I'm answering the hellos, they are bidding everyone farewell
