Sommerauer71: Oh I intend to, the night before, my father will insist on that. Old fashioned he is.

The pre nup drinks, the wedding and wedding breakfast and then the evening reception.

I can see me in bankruptcy courts over this affair.

Don't tell me Captain Bonkers has proposed? I thought it was your daughter that was getting hitched? confused

I have been known to have reasonable taste on occassion.....laugh hug

I spent over 30 years dressing people for occassions in fact, so I like to keep up with designers, and what is fashionable, when I can.

I used to love designing and making clothes, and I miss it these days, except for the odd drama (the real thing in a theatre, not the kind you find on here), I am asked to cater costumes to.wine

Hey ginger, a lovely range, thank you for that link. A couple particularly caught my eye, such as the little black jacket, and one or 2 of the skirts, though I prefer them to be much shorter given my height. I did notice it was the 2006 range, and couldn't find their recent catalogue. Just out of interest and for ideas.

BTW...if I recall correctly, Mike is quite the couturier himself.

Sommer might want to commission him!

Imagine, flying over to Spain for fittings!!!laugh

Mike has an excellent eye for details and exquisite taste.

I thought, too, that the skirts would look equally good short or long. It is the classic proportions and modern feel that I like about these.

Thank you ginger.

I love a few of the necklines, the deep and more rounded ones. Always so classic and sensual.

I think all of them celebrate femininity. The details draw the eye to the curve of the waist, the decolletage enhancing the bustline, and those little flirty flares at the hips of the jackets. I love silks too, especially printed or hand-painted raw silks.

I have no experience of being a mother-in-law… but I have some experience of being a daughter-in-law, and from that point of view I’d like that the parents-in-law would treat the young couple as a unit, not as two individuals. To treat them your child is a part of a family, a significant one of course, but only a part. It isn’t easy not to prefer your own daughter/son, but taking sides in certain situations can only make things worse (from my experience).

And I wish your daughter all the best!

Oh yes, they do, ginger. All so feminine. I highlighted the necklines only because they suit me well. And the little flirty flares at the hips of jackets? Love them. I wore a suit yesterday, by George, an Australian designer, whose clotes drape so well on me(always buy on sale!)...a brushed velvet pencil skirt with 2 small pleats at the rear, and the jacket as you described, with one button at the midriff to show off the waist. Oh, and a bonus, ginger...the skirt is now SOOO loose on me, as I have now dropped a size. I am shrinking before my very eyes with all the callanetics exercises!applause
