Please let me make myself clear - typos are not the issue here!!!! Nor am I getting at anyone who uses English as their second language, and as much as I love English Language, I struggle like hell to learn any other languages - so hats of to all you people who have learnt English!!!

It is not a case of people making the odd mistake, we all make them, but surely when you read something someone has posted and it is all incorrect does that not make you wonder?

As you said correct spelling and grammar do not always go hand in hand with intelligence, but as some one else stated the way to catch the attention of someone on this site is by words and pictures and all I am trying to ask in essence is the old adage 'Do first impressions matter?' I am sure if I met you and I was unkempt and smelly no-one would even look at me never mind to talk to me, yet on here it is the words you use and the way you communicate that matter. Surely?

As previously mentioned I really do struggle to understand anything that a teenager mumbles and and apart from the LOL, LMAO, PMSL & BRB I really don't understand any text speak, the above were communicated to me by my son, so if he can huff and puff at me for not knowing anything he is talking or writing about, can I huff and puff for him and others not using the English, American or Australian languages as they were taught???

I hate texts in abbreviations too!!

honest opinion..this is an international dating site..and since its international..its a must that we speak english for everybody to understand each other..in your case..being a grammar snob..i think yes..just think of it this way..we can speak more than one language and being able to express ourselves (that includes me,since english is not my main language)is a plus and an asset..so if we cannot pass your standard..i am sorry for that but at least we tried.JMOgrin wine

you're right i should read everything first and not just rely on your first post..you might want to say next time..this is meant for BRITISH, AMERICANS and AUSTRALIAN SPEAKERS!!! (what's with the all caps?)to avoid comments like mine.
you asked for it and when an opinion was made you use all caps? i bet you know what all caps meant dont you think you are being rude?.My only mistake was not reading all post which i mostly have no time to read all but again my mistake.

Being from the south, I am lucky to be able to write anything. So I am not put off by words and how they are put together.

Hi Pesh 121

No that is not why I used CAPITAL LETTERS.

It was to emphasize my point for about not having a dig at multi lingual people.

That was never my intention, and apologies if it ever came across in that way, it is all about preference.

Dont worry english. I get what u mean.

English is referring too english speaking people, who dont have one or 2 typos but their whole profile is littered with mistakes or shortened txt.
