Englishman55: It does frustrate me sometimes, but we have to remember that English is not the first language of many users on CS, and I get past it by concentrating on what is being said, not the spelling.

I agree with you comment about abbreviations in text messages. It drives me nuts and I always feel the person writing the text really can't be bothered to write properly and therefore is being rather rude.

The one that really "gets my goat" is when people write LOL !!!

Sorry to all users of lol, but its just my own quirck of an opinion.

I write my text out in full, but when they end up going into two text I then go back over the text and change all the 'you' to 'u' and the 'for' to '4' and 'to' to '2' etc. just to be frugal, I'm on pay as you go and can't afford to send two texts when I can get away with one.

On the subject of LOL how do you tell someone that its just a joke, they might not always see the funny side to a comment if you don't put Lol. I know it can be lots of love, so depends on how you use it, again its a matter of economy of characters. If you want to say 'lots of love,' surely its better to say LOL than not say anything.

Please forgive my grammer and spelling banana

tgwstw: I agree.
I really do not get the snobbery.
Fair enough if they are from an English learning country, even then I am not quick to judge.
I'm crap at math and all things mechanical but I have a good grasp of the English Language, hopefully someone won't judge me for what I lack, more so for the attributes I do possess.

englishblueeyes: I have many friends who are dyslexic, and I completely understand where you are coming from.

I found it very difficult myself to find the right words to fill in my profile and as a budding writer.

I am however an English Language fanatic, I find it difficult to accept the way the English Language is becoming forgotten and to be honest I find it very difficult to understand half of what the kids are talking about today, however I digress and I guess I am too picky, too fussy and too English!!! LOL

Might go towards explaining why I am still single though!!!

well it is not to late to look past these little things,
and grab life by the horns....
remember you only got one life......
though you are snobby, and quirky......
you are still likeablepeace

language is dynamic. As a studier of language, I have learned that what ultimately matters is being able to communicate one's point, not the style per se. thumbs up

Que? pointing Like that?

laugh

And yes, for sure that is the right way to see it. Language change but not our need to have things told and understood.

englishblueeyes: I got it!!!

And yes you are right, but having high standards (especially when you have accepted low standards and it hasn't worked out) is no bad thing in my book.

However I do acknowledge that everyone has their faults, I know I do but I am not asking anyone to change their views on my faults, and if they don't like me because of them, so be it, there a certain things that I find unacceptable too!!!!

I hate poor language, and others hate the fact that I smoke, but we can't be things to all men all of the time!!!!

Question?
Is it important for you to be MS Right
or to be MS Happy ?

I agree Robert.
That is exactly the point I was making, and it's far better to read what is being said, rather than how it's spelt.

You meant "Am I* being too difficult to please" ? Even you make mistakes so try to understand those, for whom English is not a native language. Best regards from Poland:)

I do try to think about that. English is one of the most challenging languages.
