Ah yes Wall, but I am sure those fights you separated had a reason for starting in the first place and were not unprovoked!

I am merely defending my corner against an aggressor!

As others have said it's an International site, as long as I can make out what a person is trying to say, it doesn't bother me.

I think it takes guts to write in a language that is not your own, and admire them for doing it. wine

englishblueeyes: Maybe I am just being a grammar snob, but does anyone else get put off by profiles if their English is not correct?

I hate texts in abbreviations too!!

Am a being too difficult to please??

Interesting one, this. Two slightly conflicting issues for me, here.

Firstly, as regards my personal opinion of someone, once I get to know them as a friend - it doesnt matter ONE BIT if their spelling is less than perfect. There can be many reasons for this, and its not necessarily because they are ignorant or uneducated. Some of the most intelligent and commonsensical people I know dont have perfect spelling or grammer. Its more WHAT they say, than HOW they spell it that matter to me.

HOWEVER..on sites like these, one of the only initial things you can go by is someone's words. So, consequently, if you see a badly worded, badly spelled post, or one that only speaks in text speak, then it is hard not to form an immediate opinion of that person, as regards their intelligence level. Its just a knee jerk reaction, and quite a natural one. Not always fair, but sadly, the case of it. So, when posting, people have to realise that impressions can be made on the spur of the moment regarding their words, so a little time should be made before sending the post, maybe.

I guess the moral of the story here is NOT TO JUDGE too quickly.

It does frustrate me sometimes, but we have to remember that English is not the first language of many users on CS, and I get past it by concentrating on what is being said, not the spelling.

I agree with you comment about abbreviations in text messages. It drives me nuts and I always feel the person writing the text really can't be bothered to write properly and therefore is being rather rude.

The one that really "gets my goat" is when people write LOL !!!

Sorry to all users of lol, but its just my own quirck of an opinion. dunno
