caspatch: used to live in dakotas and hunted the black hills last year there i shot 21 and put 11 in freezer muley was corn fed and good eating, had whitetail with one back fat they had early snow drove them down before corn was picked still hunting in feb that time
That's a lot of meat to eat patch!! Which you like better, Whitetail or Muley meat? I seen one little Whitetail doe here a few summers ago. There's very few Whitetails on the river and creek bottoms in this part of Wyoming. Game and Fish don't care for the Whitetails because of cross breeding and the Whitetails are more aggressive than the Mule Deer.
HotrodLarrys: Wow that Cool, I hunt too, White tail is the Best we Got here, but wow , I live a good area.... I live in the Farm Grounds NW MIssouri, Corn and Soybeans, Just outside, Nice Deer,
It gets kinda wild around here in the winter with all the deer hotrod. They come in on the horse hay. The most I counted at one time on the hay was 37, All does and fawns and a couple forky horns. The bigger bucks come in after dark. I did find a 4 X 4 set of horns by the hat stack one morning!! Too good. Hotrod, your big bucks bed down out in the middle of the soybean fields before they are harvested. I hunted Whitetails in Kentucky when I was in the Army. I found the bucks just loved the soybean fields is why I'm ask'n.
I'm having an ice-cold Foster Lager and feasting on The Mad Greek's Hot Wings with ranch dressing. Van Halen is backing me up on the HD, and in about fifteen minutes I'll fire up the Xbox 360 online. Life is good.

i think a good corn fed muley is almost like buffalo, white tail has a bit darker meat and a little stronger taste, but i like both

the dnr gave an extra license when you bought one, you donated that deer to the locker for the old folks homes, deer were eating the farmers corn as they couldn't pick it with all the snow, that was in the mid 80's.. dnr had snowplows cutting trails hauling in hay

My nephews came out from Ohio a few summers ago. They brought some Whitetail meat with. When they left they didn't want to eat anymore Whitetail meat. We cooked up Mule Deer and then some Elk. Think they left kinda spoiled patch. I believe their Whitetail meat was from acorn fed deer. But I've had some pretty horrible Muley and Elk meat too. Believe it or not patch some of the best wild meat I've ate is mountain lion.
