Sorry, but there are many different kinds of announcements, as we have all witnessed.
Most have been genuine, and everyone treats them as such. So I say, yes, to announcements. It's nice to share in positive stories and wish others here only good things and happy times.
On the RARE occasion, the 'announcement' made a MOCKERY of the so called word, 'love', and a mockery of relationships/friendships. Now THAT I will not tolerate. But as I said, it is rare.
But then I guess we need to look at which category the OP places it in...it could just be the "Jokes..." section.

Due to Unknown circumstances and the way some on CS act I would wait till I knew for sure where the relationship Was.
I would be honest with all personal emails but in forums I wouldn't announce until I knew for sure it was gonna work for awhile

I certainly wouldn't announce a "relationship" with someone that I haven't even met in person yet! I don't see anything wrong with the announcements of those who get married or who truly have formed a solid relationship...which means a lot more than phone calls and web chats and emails. To me, it means touching and seeing each other....being with each other...spending time getting to know each other in person.
Since I've been on CS, I've had several relationships, and I've never mentioned a single one. I've been here for perhaps close to 3 years now and have dated and had wonderful times in those years, but haven't felt a need to publish what I am doing in my personal life. It's just my way, though.
