In Britain, a gentleman's cub is concidered as exactly that. Usually ex services, commerce, law types etc. Wearing blazers and handlebar moustaches, chatting in a garbled Pythonesque manner sipping cognac and nibbling on brandy snaps. A very uperclass, gentry , elitist kind of scene.....

Doesnt sound like the gentleman's club I was working in
last week. I suspect the 'nibbling on brandy snaps,'
available though it may be, might be classed as extras.

Obviously not banned Jan. This one is in the centre of
Manchester, opened last week, huge place, fifteen private
booths, and wont be short of customers I guess.
Not for me though, I prefer them to be my customer.

Maybe I´m old-fashioned, but I wouldn´t like my partner to frequent strip clubs, and I know he wouldn´t be happy if I sought out male strip shows.
I can´t see why he would need to if he´s happy and content with me.
Maybe something is lost in translation here. European women don´t generally frequent or accompany their men to srrip clubs. Is this not the case in America?
As I´ve already said though, if it´s a stag night then fine, boys will be boys after all.
