Every experiences we have contributes to the person we are today and no matter how difficult it may be at times to move on and leave something or someone behind we should be thankful that we were able to have those experiences, emotions, learning experiences.

It means to enjoy the journey of your life, and look back with happiness at the good times in it, rather than mourn the passing of any of them. It's something I've finally been able to do for a while now regarding my late husband...to not cry because it ended so soon, but to smile because we had that brief, but very happy, time together.
It's the lesson I take forward with me now, knowing it even more now than I did then.

If it was truly special I believe you must do both. When someone you liked, lusted, and loved disappears from your life you feel terrible and yes cry. We have to go through this stage in order to enjoy the smile because it happened. After time you can look back and it does bring warmth and a smile. Fond memories build our character and creates that mystery we call a soul.
