ha, ha, ha! It did happen and I asked about that. I felt they were totally wrong! I also am open to reading the book 'cause you can't know everything. But I will say THE TEXT IS TOO SMALL!
Depending on what the book is about - I'd take it and read it with an open mind. There is always something new to be learned and discovered. I'd think that if someone actually made the effort to give someone a book they would have taken great consideration in their thinking before giving it. To be offended - I have that choice, but to be honest with myself - that is the best gift I can give myself.

OneKitty: As the title says....What would you do if someone brought you a self-help book?
I really like self-help books - the first 3 chapters until I get weary of them anyway. They're always well-intended and there is always something I can get out of them but most are very preachy and pad out their pages with tiresome scenarios of troubled people. I'd probably read more of them if they cut to the chase a little faster. But I digress.
I'd be happy to receive one if it came from someone who cared for me and whose intentions were genuine. If my ex boyfriend sent me a 'So you're considering plastic surgery" book....well, let's just say I wouldn't send a thank-you note.
