Tiger Woods, the world’s most successful sportsman, has been seriously injured in a car accident outside his home.
Florida Highway Patrol said that Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community in Florida in the early hours of the morning when he struck a fire hydrant. He is then said to have driven into a tree at his neighbour’s property.
Woods, who earlier this year became the first billion-dollar sportsman after 13 years as a professional golfer, was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in a serious condition after Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2.28 am.
FHP, which did not report the accident until early afternoon, said the airbags in Woods’ Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which indicates that the vehicle was travelling under 33 mph.
The crash remains under investigation and it has been claimed that charges are pending.
No other information about his condition has been released and a hospital operator would not say if Woods had been treated.
