well i think oprah has the right to fuss too....if i were the store manager i wouldve kept it open for her...i wouldve kept it open until the customer was fully satisfied....i wokrd in retail and we had to stay until the last person left and thre would be times that they would stay for an extra 30 minutes. Its all about customer service.

well I am happy to see that some store owners are not intimidatred nor swayed by celebrity status to keep the doors open because of one persons whim...

Bravo .... A store owner who rather be home with family than cater to some rich celebrity type spontaneous shopping spree. Bravoapplause applause

I hadn't heard of this scandelous behavior. {{{how dare she}}}

I did watch a special on the school and dorms she opened for the little girls of So. Africa. It was heartwarming and overwhelming, to say the very least. This is one of the many, many completly good things she has done for people, whoever and wherever they are.

I don't care what trivial things she did, it can never outshine the good she has done and continues to do.

Store owner lost a $7,000 sale?
I'd say he is a pretty stupid store owner.

This is OLD NEWS:

September 20, 2005 -
CHICAGO - Oprah Winfrey didn't waste any time in the new season of her syndicated TV show to revisit her summer feud with luxury store Hermes.

Halfway through Monday's premiere of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the talk-show host addressed the incident in June when she was turned away from Hermes' Paris boutique. Winfrey was denied entry after arriving at the posh store 15 minutes after closing time - even though others continued shopping inside.
"I just want to say shame on anybody for thinking that I was upset for not being able to get into a clothes store and buy a purse," said Winfrey. "Please, please."

"Everybody who's ever been snubbed because you were not chic enough or the right class or the right color or whatever - I don't know what it was - you know that that is very humiliating and that is exactly what happened to me."

"I would like to say we're really sorry," said Robert Chavez, the chief executive officer of Hermes USA, who was a guest on Winfrey's show. "You did meet up with one very, very rigid staff person."

"Rigid or rude?" Winfrey challenged.

"Rigid and rude, I'm sure," Chavez replied.

Winfrey said she wasn't playing "the celebrity card" and that she knew "the difference between the store being closed and the store being closed to me."

Nevertheless, Winfrey complimented Hermes on its handling of the incident (including "sensitivity training" for employees), and urged viewers to again buy Hermes products.

Excuse me?? Oprah has very vivid memories of how the real world is and WAS. She grew up in a very hard time of life in this world, especially being a black poor woman. She has done so much for not only her people, but people of all races and genders. She is a very compassionate and loving, and yes...wealthy woman. Of which she shares her fortune with so many around the world.
There are very few wealthy people in this world that give as much of their fortunes as she. She is a wonderful humanitarian who should be seen as a caring, sharing bigger than life helper of people, that we all should be so lucky to be able to even want to do for so many.
