bay163: Respect is not dwindling rapidly on a global basis and it is not a shame, we have so much more access to knowledge than ever before, there is so much educational information on the internet it is ridiculous. You are a woman and you came from the rib of a man.

If there were more than one of you that would be due to human cloning, it would be too too much for everyone.

I thought you were going out to a party or have the kindergarten celebrations finished!laugh

Of course you were not invited, he just got back from the kindergarten party, still in his nappies with a paper party hat on and a slice of chocolate cake, and is now going to bed as he is exhausted from playing in the paddling pool!rolling on the floor laughing

As an Atheist, I try to gather as much knowledge as possible on all theologically related texts.
You may be suprised to learn, that the reason I do this, is NOT to debunk religion, but in the hope that some day I may find something to believe in. My faith failed me a long time ago, for reasons I don't wish to get into right now, so all I can do is seek answers, just as you do.

You and I are not that different my friend. You are at one end of the great spectrum and I at the other. Perhaps one day we can all meet in the middle and we can live in peace forever.

May your God go with you.

Actually, you and I are very close.
I was exactly where you are now for years.
And I think it was a necessary step that I had to go through in order to see through a lot of delusion and to understanding God in a totally different light.
I had to totally abandon "religion" in order to refind faith in God.

wildatheart2: Hi. I beg your pardon. I thought I had answered you question.
I said that the passage was open to interpritation.
I think it is far too general to be directly associated with a specific person, but I can see tour reasoning.

I find that one of the most difficult things about the scriptures. There are many parts that are not supposed to be taken litterally, yet there are many other parts that are supposedly actual events. Who decides which is which? Each man must make his own decision, which is a question of fath.

As for the '3 kings', it is generally accepted by many scholars that there were 3, as there were 3 gifts. I mean, who's gonna turn up empty handed?

Again a matter of opinion and open to interpritation.
That was only one of many points that I raised. I am not saying that what I written is absolute truth. I would never be so arrogant. Again, it is up to each of us to make our own decisions about these matters based on the best available information.

Thank you.

You know wildaheart, you might think you are an atheist and but, if you want to make up your mind for sure, you need to try Christianity, not talk about it and analyze it, you need to try it to see if it works, to see if you can move mountains. I know a way you could try it is simple, I was upset with you before because your brain seemed just wanting to compare crap with the Bible, are you interested to try to see if God and Jesus exist??

wildatheart2: Fair play to you for taking the initiative to study it, rather than just deny without knowledge. I really respect you for that!
I had trouble believing what I learned in College and actually had great debates with my proffessor about this subject.
However, this was a 'theory' that was taught and lectured about in one of the finest educational institutions in the world. I am not , nor have I ever said that it was true, however it is there along with many other ancient writings for people to speculate about and ponder. Just as there are many scriptures. Jews do not believe the Christian texts, Christians do not believe the Muslin texts e.c.t, e.ct.

As an Atheist, I try to gather as much knowledge as possible on all theologically related texts.

Yes respect, and even more importantly "love" is rapidly depleting.

Jesus himself said the time would come when, because of the proliferation of evil in the world, many people would lose their love. We have to hold onto our love even when everybody around us loses theirs.

Mt 24: 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them."

bay163: Well you have the whole self rightious indignation down to a T.
Congratulations on your pure Christian message. At the end you make a mockery of yourself by saying you love to smack down other Christians, think about that "you love to smack down other Christians" and you have the audacity to judge me. What a dueschebag.

Is that the only way you know how to argue your point? By calling people names? That's very "Christian" of you--and it rather nicely proves my point about you. You don't discuss, you insult. You don't argue, you attack. Apparently, you've yet to actually read the Bible.

Hey Bay,

I 'tried' Christianity for a long time.
I was born into a very strong Catholic faith.
They don't come much more Catholic than the Irish.
I still maintain Christian values and live by Christian philosophy as I think for the most part the Christian faith preaches a message of love and understanding, which how all of mankind should behave.
I am however, far too inquisitive just to accept something without studying or analizing it.
It's in my nature. Like I said, my faith was weakened a long time ago. At this point in my life all of the knowledge and evidence I have aquired points to the non-existence of a 'god', but I will continue my quest alone. I live in hope.
