I agree generally with what you are saying crucialone, but your casualty figure is far too low.
Bush 1's initial gulf war killed about 400,000 Iraqi soldiers and another 100,000 civilians.
The 10 years of sanctions killed another million children from lack of food, medicine and clean water.
Depleted Uranium dust from US weapons killed about 500,000 Iraqis prior to 2001. And since the quantity of DU waste is much higher now, in the absence of any official record taking since the US took over the country, I'd say its safe to say there have been at least another 500,000 DU deaths since 2OO3.
And then, there are the also the direct casualties of the bombings, shellings, strafings, assaults, and wanton violence caused by the invasion.
So the total casualty figure, in Iraq alone, from the time that Papa Bush started the wars is somewhere near 3 million Iraqis.
As to what percentage of them were "innocent", that's a judgement call. But since none of them was invading or attacking the US, personally I'd say they were ALL relatively innocent.

Seems that you take great joy in damning the US. But to contrast, there are so many people trying to get into our country to live legally and illegally and take the freedoms and benefits that our people have fought and died for because their native country doesn't afford them those privledges. To have a US citizenship is the ultimate goal of so many foreigners. Our country can't be that bad if everyone wants to live here and utilize our freedoms. And our freedoms and rights were based on our Constitution. So if you don't like it, TOUGH LUCK. We don't want or need you or your money in our country, not even for a tourist visit. If you are miserable as you seem to sound, by sounding off so vehementy like you do, please book a 1 way ticket to Iraq or Afghanistan and make a difference in the lives of those poor people over there whom you speak of.
And quit damning our country already. This country has allowed in more immigrants from oppressed countries than any other country throughout it's history. That's why there is no one particular ethnic face that anyone can identify as American. We are many. I'm not so sure that your country has nearly the amount of different ethnic populations from oppressed countries as the US.
You are so against the Americans and talk of Iraqi and Afghan people lives that are precious. However, I don't see you going over there whatsoever to go and protect, improve or even further the Iraqi and Afghan people's lives. Yet more American lives were lost there than any other country but yet also other people of different countries in this world have laid down their lives for total Iraqi and Afghan strangers.
Another thing...our country has sent in more doctors to give free artificial limbs to the Iraqi people, many of whom are children that Al Quaida has so readily used for their dirtywork. Perhaps you would be so kind to speak to these children about Al Queda and what they do think of the Americans now? Answer is that they welcome the Americans and the improvement in their lives now as compared to what Al Queda promised them.
At least our country has learned that if you don't fight the terrorism on their soil, then they come over onto your soil. 911 taught us that. And we still have to keep up the vigilance especially with the recent Christmas day airline incident. They try everything to get into our country. I think other European countries have seen what havoc was wrecked on them from terrorist bombings on their soil.
To any American soldier of present or past who is reading this, I want to say to you, "THANK YOU FOR KEEPING US SAFE HERE AND MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS OVERSEAS."

Well, relatively speaking, every point in the universe can be considered the center of the universe. And by very complex mathamatical manipulations it can even be argued that any given point is totally stationary and the rest of the universe revoloves around in (in a very complex way).
And that same basic situation occurs with human perception. Every nation, and even every person can see themselves as being the center of the universe. All it takes is a total disregard of the point of view of everybody else. The US and Israel are masters at that kind of ego-centrism. But I imagine its a basic human trait and anybody who doesn't have reality rubbed in his face from time to time may be prone to claim the universal center-stage.
